I think this must have happened to me today. (Well, unless someone has an alternative explanation).
I attended a slalom/autocross on a track and there was a long right hand turn and at the end of the turn it turned into a 'parabolica' (full throttle right hand turn), I was at about 7000 rpm and the engine bogged down to 4000 rpm before it started to run again. I had about 3 gallons of gas left in the tank. Initially I thought that something serious has happened. I checked for error codes (there were none). Also, I tried to reproduce it on a straight road afterwards but it didn't happen again and the engine is still pulling as strong as it did before. |

Sure it was not traction control? I've never had fuel starvation in the 400 autox runs my frs has been through.

Sounds like traction control or hitting the rev limiter.
I've nearly ran the BRZ out of gas at an AutoX and never had starvation issues. I had to coast into the gas station after an Evo School because I was completely out. |

It wasn't traction control. Besides that I turned everything off, there was no traction problem at that section of the track. Also, the rear broke out in two other tighter turns and there was no traction control interference.
And it wasn't the rev limiter either because the rev limiter turns on later and keeps the rpm more or less steady (doesn't turn off the engine off until it drops down to 4000 rpm). The main reason why I believe that it is fuel starvation is because it happened in the two last runs at the very same location (full throttle and high lateral acceleration). |

Here's a video I took before it bogged down after the first long right hand turn (full throttle in third gear):
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lL7Wz2C1vM"]Autocross on a track - YouTube[/ame] This never happened to me before either. But usually there are no long lasting turns in these sorts of events. Also, we are allowed to drive on Semi-slicks (e.g. Toyo R888 or Yoko A048) in street tire class and they enable over 1.2 lateral acceleration. If there is an alternative explanation other than fuel starvation, it would need to explain two things: Why did it bog down to 4000 rpm and why did it happen twice at the same location. |

I've had it happen at the end of an uphill fast right hander as well. In my case the fuel light was on, but it's certainly possible.

My buddy at half a tank his car died on left hand doughnuts. Had to fill it all the way up and wait acouple days. Mine almost died but I was at 1/4 left hand doughnuts. He has a big round about at his house that we drift. But uea its definitely there. Fuel starvation.
