I don't see the price for the Phantom SC anywhere. What is the price exactly? Also, when will this be available to purchase? I am in California, and this seems like a nice alternative and something I would strongly consider in the near future

If anyone is interested send me a PM and I will send you some data logs. I have been running the system on my car for approximately 3 months. Please note the logs are pre-tune.

For anyone trying to compare this to a full time FI system, let me put it straight go with the a turbo or SC solution.

This system is for the NA person looking to tune ($600), purchase an exhaust ($500-$1,500) and intake ($300 - $400). At the end of the day with the costs of parts and labor you might get close to the 195 whp the unit puts out with all stock parts. . . Alternatively you pay $1,500, do the install yourself in 1 hour and get a quick tune and your guaranteed some fun. . .

Also, please note when you say $3,000 for the cheapest FI, did you factor in the labor costs which will run another $1,000. . . . Oh and you know your going to go through the stock clutch also and that will require eventual replacement.....

I have been waiting (rather impatiently) for this kit to be released. There are so many advantages to it and I really like the fact that it is new technology with a LOT of promise. Its like a KERS system, but instead of direct drive it uses stored power for FI, too cool! The fact that you can turn the system on and off is a huge bonus for me. This technology is like adding "video game" nitrous to your 86, who wouldn't want that!!! I want to be part of this technology as it evolves and improves, release the kit and I will order one with a huge smile on my face!

I've been following the development of this kit for a few months now, and a couple of months ago I put my interest aside and figured that I would rather entertain more traditional methods of na tuning (header, exhaust, tune) to get similar gains.
My interests now have shifted back to this ESC and although I chose "i'm a wait and see kind of guy but I may order within 6 months", after reading the updates, I am leaning more towards pulling the trigger on this kit. The gains I see are almost hard to believe, not that I am doubting them.... its just such a unconventional piece of kit.

Perhaps this has been answered in the original (long) thread, but what is the life expectancy of the batteries, considering a harsh canadian climate of extreme cold and heat.

Gentlemen, thank you for developing this, what appears to be a fantastic alternative method of waking up an otherwise spectacular vehicle.

I will order this when it becomes available.

It's tough to say, I like the simplicity, ease of install and expected price point, also this would fulfill my power needs in almost any situation. That said, I'd still prefer a full time FI solution.

I like the idea of this as an intermediary option for the next few years before my warranty expires and swap to a turbocharger.

I also like the possibility of using it in some sort of twin charger setup later on down the road.

The power shown on the dyno's that have been provided is more than sufficient for me for now, and the ease of install and uninstall was actually the biggest selling point to me. I'm still going to hold off until Shiv gets his hands on one and starts working on some maps for the OFT. I've thought about it, and I think my current K&N Air Filter + OFT + this thing are the only hp/tq power mods I really want/need till I go turbo'd. Maybe I'd also do a muffler delete, but I'm not sure.

I chose the "I'll wait and see, but will probably purchase within 6 months" choice. If I do get this, it will be next spring or summer.

I have put about 12000 km on the kit so far and no battery degradation at all yet.

These batteries are pretty fool proof and cheap so if I have to replace them for 80 bucks after 2 or 3 years I wouldn't be too upset.

The longest installed kit is on a vw with over 40,000 km and it is still holding up to Canadian summer and winter cycles.

Good point.... it would be a trivial expense.

At this point I am really looking forward to the day this kit becomes available for purchase. That, and as previous poster mentioned: Shiv's tune and OFT.

Thanks!

Make this available with a Unichip tune, and you'll have a buyer. The idea of a fully reversible AND non-trackable tune really appeals to those of us worried about the warranty.

I may have to revise my prior answer to this poll. I think this is a great option, but the fact of the matter is I can't buy it - this is not a product that is currently on the market, and there does not appear to be a current plan to release it. I like how this stacks up against traditional FI options from a value for money perspective, yes, but the twist is that those other options are available now. The big thread about this potential product was started about 120 days ago and is up over 100 pages, 2300 replies, and nearly 140,000 views. After all that I don't like the idea of waiting for an unspecified period of time to see whether this product will be released or not. Speaking as someone who would really like to buy this product, there's only so long I'm willing to wait for it to be brought to market. I have decided that if we get to February 2014 (an additional 4 months) and there is no stated release date for this, I will start the process of getting an available FI setup on my car in the hope that it will be ready to go by the time the weather gets nice.

Understood and thanks for the breakdown and analysis of timeline.

As i understand Rob is making every effort to make sure little to now glitches in paying customers install. A couple people have a problem and all of a sudden there is a shit storm (and understandably so).

This kit has now hit its critical mass, we have 8 testers pounding the thing daily.... this is great news for anyone that is interested in the kit.

You have to remember that this is brand new tech, not a package deal that has been adopted by one platform or the other over the last 20 years like the Turbo's and Superchargers.

This is all packaged and programmed by Rob himself.

Trust me....Rob is getting close now that he has all his testers

I'm a believer. It seems like the perfect compromise for those of us wanting a little more oomph without breaking the bank, and the ease of installation/removal is a real plus.

The Open Flash Tablet tune for this looks like it will accomplish the same thing (on the non-trackable front). Check out that thread for info. It's changed my mind on waiting for Unichip on this.

Thanks for the response - I'm not trying to be a pain, just trying to provide the perspective of a potential buyer of this system.
