Thanks, oldeskewltoy! I think
..... nothing going boom.....safe AFR, no knock. Could have gotten a little more out of this tune, but kept a decent margin for gas quality, environment variables, etc. This is a 93-octane tune, and would not run it on 91-octane. A 91-octane tune will show a little less power.Quote:
We, like most, are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the nameless header. It looks very promising and hope it delivers like the initial testing shows. Maybe this one will produce that extra bit of HP and TQ. Only time will tell ![]() Quote:

Hey, just recently tuned an FR-S with a Perrin cold air intake + Perrin inlet hose. This intake was very easy to tune for and only needed minor adjustments in the upper MAF volt range. Ran a little rich in upper range. AFRs were not affected at low and mid-range. Nice piece!

Hey that's my car!
Let me get this out of my system, this tune is amazing! This is how the car should feel stock. So let's get into the nitty gritty. I'll break this up into a few sections: My BRZ, Tuning Experience, Daily Driving, Autocross Driving, and Final Thoughts. My BRZ My concept for modifying and upgrading this car is street plus tuned car for cheap. As my daily driver it needs to be comfortable, reliable, and gas friendly. As my "race" car it needs to be tight, light, and grippy. As a college student my budget is small so I only spent dollars on what I thought was absolutely essential for improving the performance of the car; HVT Camber Plates, Direzza ZIIs, Eibach Springs, and a tune. I also looked for value performance parts; WRX Rear sway bar, Whiteline Transmission Mount Bushing, Grimmspeed Strut Bar, Nameless Muffler Delete and SPC Rear Lower Control Arms. These mods have allowed me full camber adjustability, quick response, a tight chassis, grip beyond my limit and now power to move this car anywhere I please. Tuning Experience I first talked to Tristan from Circuit Motorsports at a local weekly Subaru meet and he was extremely knowledgable, helpful, approachable and just plain cool. He helped me figure out what was in my budget, what I needed, and what I wanted. After discussing options we found that ultimately my car would benefit from their Stage 1 tune. Enter Bob. This is man with 6+ years experience with tuning the Subaru Boxer platform. I was at first worried about possible damage to my engine but after talking with Bob I knew it was completely safe and he knew what he was talking about. Bob is the guy I want to tune my car for as long as I have it. He answered any questions I had and gave advice on what Racerom features I might want. Due to my busy work, school and social schedule, the car was tuned over a few weeks and Bob was accommodating to work with me on setting up tuning and dyno days log, polish and explain the features that came with this car-making tune. Daily Driving I've had this car almost a year and it now sits with 15000 miles on it. I really drive this car everyday and needed this car to be smooth and comfortable. This tune has exceeded all my expectations. The torque gains in the mid range have made the BRZ so easy to drive. I found the stock tune made the throttle twitchy and nervous, very on or off. After the tune power delivery is smooth and predictable. Gas mileage hasn't changed. Before the tune the average on my trip computer was 23 to 24. After resetting the trip and loading the tune, with granny driving, autocrossing, and a bit of hooning, it remains at 23 to 24. Very impressed on this. Autocrossing Part of my goal with this car is to have a vehicle that I can drive to, in and from local autocrosses. With the ability to change maps via the cruise control is really handy, but I found that I switch straight to the performance map on startup and after two weeks of doing this everyday I asked Bob to set me up with two maps. Map one, my default startup map, is my performance map. Map Two is my performance map with launch control, an awesome feature that gives me an edge and damn it sounds so crazy. Bob also gave me an 8000 rpm rev limit for second gear. This allows me to hit 60 mph without having to shift to third and utilize all that flat torque up top. This is great for autocross and the short courses. My plan of attack is launch in first, shift to second and concentrate on driving. This car now has plenty of torque in the mid range and where the infamous dip was to get the car moving and keep it moving all the way to redline. This car is way beyond my limits and I need to learn to drive before I do anything else power wise. Final Thoughts This tune has everything I need and want in a tune. Completely reliable, I've never had any knock or any codes. Complete performance, the torque dip is almost gone and I can't notice it anymore. Complete value, out of all the parts I have installed this has added the most performance for the cost. |

This was a BRZ 6mt. The FRS auto I told you about had an intake and full exhaust minus headers. -- Bob Last edited by Circuit Motorsports; 10-17-2013 at 01:55 AM. |

Recently I was down in Orlando for the Southeast 86 Mega Meet put on by Southeast 86 and hosted by Circuit Motorsports. I took a vacation for a few days and during my vacation I went to Circuit Motorsports and got the ECUTEK Stage 2 done on my Automatic FR-S.
My current mods i'm running on my FR-S are as follows: Borla Catback Exhaust Invidia Catless Front Pipe Perrin Inlet Tube Perrin CAI The tune was dialed in on 93 Octane. I'm still on stock wheels and tires. We started tuning the car at 10am on a Saturday morning. After some logs of just normal driving we went a undeveloped bypass to start dialing in the tune. After Bob flashed the ECU with the Base Map I instantly noticed a difference in the entire car. After a few runs on the Base Map we reflashed the ECU again and loaded the Performance Map. We would target the maps in 3rd gear running from 2000-6000 RPMs. When I hit 3500-4500 RPMs the car had a nice growl now coming from the cams. After that I found my gas tank depleting alot faster than normal due to addicting sound it would make from 3500-4500 RPMs. We spent a total of 6 hours tuning, re-flasfing, and logging data till we came out satisifed. Now, with all that being said I can't disclose how much I paid for the kit and tune at the shop since Circuit Motorsports is one of my Sponsors. I can however tell you that their Tuner Bob was top notch. His attention to detail is what gave me such a great tune. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get a tune on the Southeastern Coast.
