I had a phone call from my Scion dealer today. He was talking to Toyota Canada. They told my dealer that they have been getting tons of calls. All from iphone owners not being able to use their blue tooth properly. They all so said that the only systems they might be able to do a firmware update on down the road is. Systems with navs. Well I guess that counts out FR-S owners. So I contacted apple today. They are phoning me on thursday. I will be talking to some guy in the engineering department about this problem. I will post another update after that call.

This isn't an actual solution to the problem, but I had issues with my 4s iOS 7 iPhone and the standard head unit until yesterday when I upgraded to a new 5s.

So if you can upgrade, one more reason to. The buttons on the headunit now work like they should with the Bluetooth.

Seems like deleting the phone on the head unit then having it connect again to it helps. Pandora works and so does Bluetooth but some other stuff doesn't. Phone calls etc still good !

I followed these instructions from an Apple support thread:

Quote:
On IOS 7 Turn Off All Access "Settings==>Control Center", Shut Down and Restart your iPhone. After iPhone restart again Turn on All Access "Settings==>Control Center". Now lock your iPhone and you should be able to use all the media options now.
The play/pause button and seek now work. It seems to have a delay that wasn't there before, but that could be in my head. Haven't had a chance to see if it resumes playing when I start the car yet.

A Senior tech from apple phoned me today. We did a restore using iTunes. Then we went out to my car. Deleted the iphone in the stereo. Turned the car off waited a minute or so and turned it back on. Paired the iphone with the car stereo. It made a big difference. I can know use my skip tracks buttons on the deck as well as tracks. The songs are now being displayed as well. The only thing left to work out is the lag between hitting the pause play button on the deck. It takes about 10 secs for the play button to become un greyed out. Other then that every thing seems to be okay. The apple tech is sending the info on to engineering department. They are working on this. issue. Make sure you go to the link that flatline posted and follow those directions as well. That made a little difference before i did my restore.

I've never had a problem with my charging cables but my brother-in-law has gone through 5-6 cables so far. They are all wearing right at the lightening end itself.

You wouldn't happen to be part of Jordan Innovations, would you? He's a vendor on the V8 RX7 forum I'm on and posted up something about having military spec loom on his as well.

I was wondering if I was the only one having this issue and I'm in the same boat as you man.

It's annoying.

The problem here is not the Frs unit or the BRZ unit, it is the iPhone that has the problem.
Since iOS 5 Apple isn't following the bluetooth standards anymore.
And with every new upgrade that they make it is getting worse.
I know that in Europe the OEM audio units are getting an update at this moment to fix the problems caused by iOS 6!
So i think it is unfair to ask the car company to change the firmware again because one company decides they don't have to follow the standard.
This kinda pisses me off.

I think you should bundle your complaints and send them to Apple.
They should follow the standard like anybody else.

This is one of the reasons i don't buy apple anymore, they think they can do anything they want.
And the customer is the victim of this, again.

i agree

i finally got mine fixed after doing everything suggested, and now there's a new update, and i don't want to.........because it'll probably get all screwed up again

unfortunately i prefer apple os vs android os
gave my android to my android loving husband, for the iphone
