This sucks. My first new car, and my old 1990 stock 240sx sounds better.

I get that it doesn't affect performance, but we are not getting what we paid for. It's like buying a brand new phone, and the only ringtone you have on it is Justin Bieber - any song, and you can't change it or put it on silent. Sure, it's a beautiful, superior handling phone, but you're on a crowded bus and momma calls, you just wanna duck your head in shame!

Ok, it may not be as bad, but I wake up every day hoping someone will post a permanent fix. It's our babies we're talking about... Of course you want it to sound as good as it looks.
Couldn't have said it any better! An aftermarket company can really strike gold right about now by releasing a replacement pump for our cars. What are they waiting for

With 84% of the cars affected, 1600 on this thread alone, I would have thought a class action would have been cheaper and more effective.

Toyota aren't trying hard enough, they need to be motivated.

It's just a noise, you realize that, right? Not saying I wouldn't get it replaced if a new pump came out, but I doubt there is any sort of real market for these. Not for the $1000 it costs for the current pump. Yup, look it up, it's $1000 (Part Number: SU003-00328).

If it doesn't cause a failure, I'm ok with it for now.

After all this time, I'm still confused as to why people give a rats a$$ about a noise that doesn't affect anything with the car? Are people just embarrassed about it? I embrace it as it can call attention to this awesome car we have! I'm sure at some point we'll get a fix, not saying a paid for fix, but a fix. Until then, embrace the squeak! It adds some character and sets us apart from the rest!!

When we have such an amazing car, who really wants to drive around with an obnoxious loud ass chirp coming from the engine bay? It definitely doesn't affect me enough to go into the dealership, raise hell, and get three different replacement pumps... but I've spoken to three local dealerships and the feedback im getting is the chirp can be very minimal on some cars and very extreme on others. So to those of you who can hear the "chirp" with your windows up and have just spent 30k on a beautiful car....I'm right there with you on getting a solution figured out. My belief...it's not just a "normal sound", like Toyota and Subaru want us to believe. It's more like a diamond with an inclusion...it still shines, but it's just not perfect!

I've thought about this poll for a while and I wonder what the true % of these vehicles really is that's affected by crickets. I think the 84% number is skewed because if people have no issues, they probably don't even know this site exists. It's only when people have these issues that they look them up on the internet, find forums, etc. Also, people without crickets probably aren't even looking at this thread.

Don't forget some crickets have gone away and some have appeared 4k miles later. I wouldn't be surprised if right now 75-80% of N. American 86's chirp in some capacity.

I'm starting to become very suspect of my car, even though its VIN is supposedly above the range of cars that were affected by this issue.

I took a video and striped the sound.

If a few folks can help me with a confirmation, I'd appreciate it.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe that all cars, including current production ones, still have this issue. I could be wrong, but I figured there would be more hoopla if there was an actual fix out.

04/2013 build here. Just got ANOTHER fuel pump replaced. Dealer said they are embarrassed and will continue to replace the part so long as the issue continues.

At this rate, I'll be getting a new fuel pump every 1,000 miles or so.

Mines passed the cut off date, and my chirps are getting aggressive. How hard is it to design another pump with the same pressure? Get your shit together... Toyota. I say Toyota because this is one of the only parts they contributed to the engine... From what I've read anyways.
