Has anyone posted in this thread saying that the noise hasn't come back after getting their fuel pump replaced? I just realized that I am hearing a cricket noise as well :-/ I'm at about 4400 miles and I've already had my first oil change (lots of short distance driving, etc)

Mine came back worse after they replaced my pump.

Has anyone noticed theirs getting quieter now that weather has cooled. I haven't heard mine for a couple of weeks now. During 100*+ summer they were LOUD. I haven't changed gas or behavior. Its now 70-80*

Could be mileage/usage related, mine got quieter as it got hotter and the miles ticked on, they haven't resurfaced significantly, there's others with the same experience.

Spirited driving with 110+ temps outside and not a peep compared to the 40-ish degrees when I first finished break-in.

@lickitysplit I'm sorry to hear that the problem came back worse.

I did want to mention that apparently this was referenced in a few TSBs:

this one: https://www.ownersite.com/tsb/tsbs.cfm/2013/SCION/FR-S/
SSB-0023-12
72100 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE : DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
Date of Bulletin: 12/10/2012

and this one: http://www.teknikrayon.net/docs/BRZ_fuelpumpTSB.pdf
It mentions the following in bold in the first paragraph: "This result is non-detrimental to the fuel system or engine."

Does this mean that we're all worried over nothing? If it's just an annoying sound then I'm not going to worry about it. If it's something that can cause mechanical issues then I'll make it a priority to get this fixed at the dealer.

All evidence points to it just being annoying. The only problems with the system are caused by botched repair jobs or aftermarket kits, both with at least one recorded incidence of car destroying fire.

Who knows, at 60k they could all drop dead and people who flipped out early will jump up and down saying "i told you so" or they'll work just fine for >200k like we expect them to. We simply won't know until it happens, Toyota/Subaru are as aware of it as they will ever be, they want to avoid class action and the resulting mark on their reputation. It can really go either way, there's no problem or that they'll sweep it under the rug.

Even if it's not hurting the car per say, it's hurtin the value and adding annoyance, it wasn't doing It when we bought the vehicles.

How many miles? If you're around 7k and up that would mean they are performing identically.

I never noticed a correlation to temperature unlike some. Mine were noticeably quieter around 7.5k, next to nothing at 10k, almost at 15k now. They were probably at their loudest in the 4k-5k range which for me was around March, temps a little cooler than they are now.

All California 91 octane E10, no consistent station.

<12,000. Im running 93 octane. They might be getting better with time. I use Lucas fuel injector cleaner frequently to absorb the ethanol in gas. May be snake oil but makes me feel better.

The crickets have slowly returned as I've passed half a tank with the 2t oil.

Before passing the last 1/4 tank I will try to fill up w/o adding more to see if it simply needs to get "mixed" again.

I enjoyed a good cricket-free week though; sounded like it did the day I got it.

I don't think the 2T will settle out of solution with all the movement it gets driving although it's difficult to think of any other explanation?
You put the 2T in first and then filled?[I know it's obvious but just checking!]
I would just fill up at 1/4 tank and add 2oz to see what happens.

I just got my first case of the chirps. I'm at around 4500ish miles. I thought I was in the clear, but I guess not.

Got my pump replaced on 09/28.. Same part# but was told it was a different part. Crickets came back two weeks later after about 300 miles. Here are the part#s:

SU003-00328 PMP AY-FUEL, H PRS
SU003-00342 PIPE AY-FUEL DLVY
SU003-00347 GSKT-FUEL PIPE
SU003-00316 GSKT-THROT CHMBR
SU003-00290 GSKT-INT MANIF

This sucks. My first new car, and my old 1990 stock 240sx sounds better.

I get that it doesn't affect performance, but we are not getting what we paid for. It's like buying a brand new phone, and the only ringtone you have on it is Justin Bieber - any song, and you can't change it or put it on silent. Sure, it's a beautiful, superior handling phone, but you're on a crowded bus and momma calls, you just wanna duck your head in shame!

Ok, it may not be as bad, but I wake up every day hoping someone will post a permanent fix. It's our babies we're talking about... Of course you want it to sound as good as it looks.
