Yes it appears its one of the kits that requires a beam cut. Didn't know this till now.
I've actually spoken to NSW vehicle engineers about the issues with this beam and described it in detail. Their collective view is that as long as you aren't touching the airbag sensors and by cutting a hole like the one posted by Dan@AWD then rotating it 90 degrees and welding it back on like a tube for the piping to pass through, it should be fine as the structural integrity of the beam should be still in tact. Toni has also described this over the phone to me as the prob the best way to keep its strength. I'm convinced it will be fine if done correctly.

If you don't like it, there are other kits.

@FA20Club.com doesn't follow this thread as it's not their own. If you want to give feedback or have questions about the design then go to their thread to do so: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34291

Lastly, the entire crash beam is not being cut. You notch out the back of the crash bar to allow enough clearance for a coupler. The front of the crash bar is still completely in-tact. The inside of the crash beam is hollow to begin with. Some people are giving the impression that the end of the world is near because you notched a 3 inch section on the back of a beam that isn't made of solid steel.

At the end of the day if this is a deal breaker for you, there are other kits available. Your wagon isn't hitched to something you haven't bought.
Would this simple 3" notch effect the rigidity of that beam in anyway?

Lol I not making it out to be the end of the world, pointing out the facts that you are modifying a safety feature of the car.

@natedogg86 yes I am fully aware that there are other kits... Like I said before I didn't know that this was required until today. Hence why I'm asking all these questions about it and just pointing out the complications this could cause for people like yourself who are in a country that has stricter rules for this kinda of stuff.

Seriously, this an an owners thread, we've discussed it with Toni, structural engineers, other system manufacturers, etc. if it's that big of a deal to YOU then move on. The great thing about this platform is that you have options.

Done talking
Yay more stuff to quote....

Lowering the car with aftermarket suspension is compromising safety? if not adhering to the guideline than yes... it would be compromising safety... what a silly question...

once again silly question that you already know the answer to.

Changing your tail lights is compromising safety because they might not be DOT approved?

Yes of course it will raise the risk of you getting into an accident... therefor compromising safety.

"we've discussed it // structural engineers, other system manufacturers, etc."
WELLL why didn't you say so...

And what did they have to say?

Good points to bring up, just the wrong place as Toni doesn't monitor this thread. Next topic please. I don't want this thread to be a pissing match.

Maybe a mod can clean this thread up, as it definitely went off topic.

I personally don't give 2 sh*ts about my crash beam. I want to get rid of it with a bigger intercooler.

My theory intercooler = crash beam.

WOW!!!! I wonder how much would this kit be without that lame ass turbo????

Yes the turbo is reliable and yes it's cheap as shit but come on'..... We are in 2013. The technology on this turbo is from 1999. A nice 62mm billet wheel turbo would produce a lot better results.

Why are you wondering when you can go right to their site and configure your system with any of the 10 turbo options they have to choose from?
