If its an o ring, same problem if you over tighten it.

Of course, if you are under your BRZ you won't be able to reach the oil filter. 8-)

Yes those are good, but all filters are not the same size. This is better:

The first one i did this. I usually always use a screwdriver on my fiilters if they are stuck. Works a treat. Most cars its a mess. This one is great, since its up top and upside down, zero mess.

Then hand tight only for new filter

As is the case with most tools, there's always a need for an oil filter removal tool at some point in your automotive-owning career. Once you buy one or two of these, you'll pretty much have a filter tool for every type of car oil filter out on the market.

You're 86 filter isn't going to change size anytime soon is it? If you've got more than one car then why not buy the set

Please don't take offense, but in my opinion that is just a waste of space and money. I have only needed that one universal oil filter wrench for multiple vehicles; it fits filters ranging in size from 62mm to 121mm. I still have a bunch of those cap style wrenches but never use them.

Pipe wrench. Big one. My motorcycle filter I couldn't get off with anything. Screwdriver just ripped it and then I just used a large pipe wrench and squashed it. That worked.

rubber gloves and grip + scream = loose

it's being removed anyways, so you can use one of those univeresal oil filter removal. The one that grips by crushing the end a bit.

No tools required. If so It was installed to tight or left on to long. Always oil the gasket on the new one. I know its been said before, just saying it again.
