I might have put mine in the oven once...

Just kidding.

Yeah, mine doesn't sit flat either. Still, looks better than with a frame.

OK, to complicate things further, I just noticed that the back plate area of the FR-S isn't even flat itself. So if you use a frame on it, the right and left edges have air gaps.

Is there a license frame for the car that is already designed to be slightly curved to take that into account?

+1 for YoSpeed. Looks great better than the cheap painted one i bought on amazon that is turning grey from black.

Since it only has two mounting holes I had my dealer put some foam strips with adhesive backing behind the plate to keep mine from rattling. I just have the dealer plate frame for now.

anyone know how you are suppose to install the rear plates? mine didnt come with the screws for the back plates and i was told that they are #14 x 3/4 screws. i tried screwing them in and it works but it doesnt go all the way in... the screws also dont come out anymore as i tried to unscrew it and it looks like the clear plastic piece is all bent out of shape? did i screw up?
There are plastic nuts on the inside of the trunk that the screws go into. Sometimes they turn with the screw when you try to tighten or loosen it. Just open the trunk and hold them with a pair of pliers.

Well guys I've settled on using 3M double sided foam tape to secure the plate onto my FR-S. No brackets, no screws.

Yeah mine were flat. I kinda bent one on accident so I used the other. They make them so damn thin.

You can try to bend it SLIGHTLY yourself. Or mount it to something else that is thin and flat. Or use foam tape to mount it directly on car.

Yeah, didn't even think that some plates might come warped. That's a good reason to use a frame!

same with mine, used 3m tape on the bottom of the plate, around 3" or so and stuck it to the trunk. looks clean and great with no plate cover...

on another note, anyone know which TRD plates fit well with our cars?
