I am running a kaaz 1.5way with 255 Toyo R1R.
the driving experience is AMAZING. I took it up to big bear to test it out and the drive up was epic.

A diff will change the way the car puts the power to the ground and in the case of a 1.5 or 2 way change the corner entry characteristics of the car as well, if setup properly take advantage of the grip that's available. A 1.5 way would be the way to go for a track car. Depending on power levels and setup it could be setup for your application based on power and driving style. Here's a good article to read.

It doesn't appear as if you got much help here. You should have posted in the "tracking/autox/hpde" subforum.
The Torsen LSD in this car is quite good and due to the nature of its function it actually works better when you throw bigger/grippier tires at the rear end. However, the Torsen LSD won't distribute power when a tire is in the air or on an extremely slippery surface (oil/snow and water to an extent). If you like the way the Torsen LSD ramps up, it's smooth application but you want a greater distribution of load between the axles and you want to eliminate it's short coming when a tire is airborne then you should consider a WAVETRAC rear differential. It's a mechanical worm gear LSD (torsen style) with internal ramp plates that still provide lock up when a wheel is lifted. It's literally the best of both worlds. The other option that works really well is to go for a clutch plate LSD that is 1.5 way. Typically the Clutch Plate LSD's are going to provide a higher percentage of torque distribution vs an OEM torsen option. They also remained locked when a tire is airborne and with a 1.5 way you get the full percentage of lock under accel and 50% of lock (or thereabouts) under decel which can help with balance. If you are a track-only setup or you don't care about a little chatter at low speed daily driving than I would say go for a 1.5way Clutch Plate setup like Cusco or KAAZ.

Beating the dead horse some more, unless you're lighting up the inside tire when putting power down exiting a corner a different LSD isn't going to do a single thing to improve grip.
If you have too stiff of a RSB you can end up three wheeling and as soon as the inside tire gets too light you'll send all the power to it. If that's your issue, then a clutch or hybrid LSD will help, but the real issue there is too stiff of a RSB, not the LSD.

more information of why would have really helped get to the answer was best not just an info dump on LSD's. I am still really curious what solved his solution and what the real cause of the problem was. |
