Shiv can I buy the tuning package after I buy the OFT? Or does it need to be one purchase?

Thanks

I enjoyed the unichip...the only downside was the wires under the hood.

Has anyone had the unichip and switched to OFT?

Thanks guys
I already did one, you can see it here, its in post #2 though. I compared them on the Autocross and oddly enough I was the one to buy your Unichip so it makes it all the more interesting

It was one of my reasons as well, however I wanted more control that was provided in the methods I desired by the OpenFlash Tablet. I did ask on the last page for an update on the status from my understanding after the Stage 2 maps come out here soon (would love dates) then E85 and the FI was my understanding and Datalogging was somewhere in there.
I am looking forward to it so I can do a little more with the software with accurate logs to pull from.

Not saying the current open flash lcd is crap, is there going to be support to maybe place it on a android tablet? It would be awesome to be able to port it on my existing android device / bluetooth obd reader for a bigger screen. I'm suspecting there's nothing really fancy in the openflash hardware.. maybe a microcontroller like raspberry pi and a obd reader/writer? Maybe thats just asking for too much :P

anyhow.. this definitely catches my eyes... I'm 80% on ordering it... definitely going to keep my eye on this product!

*edit*

Are there future plans to have similar capabilities such as a Accessport?

not always the best idea. at least in my experience, and that of several visconti customers lol. but i get what you mean, some prefer the hands-off approach, nothing wrong with that.

Seems like shiv has more experience, and there has been a decent amount of good feedback both in here and the Beemer forums.

However hands off for me? Not really. I'm going to start off with shiv's tune and I am lucky enough as a physics teacher that I have access to a dyno in our auto shop. The auto teacher and I are going to fine tune the off the shelf tune for my car and we are probably going to be adding either a supercharger or turbo in the near future. The starter tunes will help speed up our development time significantly for the fine tuning.

Now I will be honest and say I have no idea how to tune. But the auto teacher at my school has years of experience building and racing cars. My plan is to milk as much knowledge as I can from him. I have already learned a significant amount from the teacher and I plan on learning more. Tuesday I start welding which gets me one step closer to my dream project of building a car from the frame up.

sounds like an awesome opportunity to pick up some new skills. best of luck!

oh and just to be clear i didn't intend to speak down on anyone else's skills, certainly not shiv's. i don't claim to be anywhere near as skilled as the pros, i'm just the type that has to know what's going on and would rather stumble through learning than miss the opportunity to gain real world experience. especially given past experiences that suggest paying someone doesn't always eliminate the stumbling lol.

Yeah we got lucky here. Actually I have plans on creating a cross curriculum where I incorporate automotive into physics and vice versa. It should be entertaining.

We will have stock this afternoon. So you should be ok to pick one up this week from the office in Danville. We can install it for you if you'd like. I don't think custom dyno tuning is going to be possible due to time constraints. In the process of getting a whole bunch of new maps ready for release

That's a great way to keep a guy's attention in a physics class!
