Toyota just killed off the Matrix...

I hope they come back with something like the first gen XRS!

I love hatchbacks for their utility (my other car is a GTI). While they can't match the pure driving experience of a Miata or S2000 or Twin, they're great if you want a mix of practical + sport.

Got a new '84 Honda Civic S. Yes, I like hatches. WTF Honda? No more Civic Hatch?
Lost my business. At least the twins have a wide passthrough.
Would have much preferred a twin with a more vertical hatch and better rear quarter visibility.

I think they are cool for a functional car, but for a sportscar...

I vote for more wagons, but find hatches to look like shrunken mini vans.

Well unless they're rwd, they technically cannot be a sportscar right?

But that doesn't mean they can't be a race car.

My hatchback earned me 3 championships and I put my jack, stands and a set of wheels/tires in it before loading it on a trailer. The functionality of a hatchback ironically works very well to and from the racetrack!

I love hatches, I've had a few. I shopped the Focus ST and almost considering waiting for the Fiesta.

This is my dad's wagon. Full stg3+ 400+whp

To me, hatchback = 3 doors. Anything else is a wagon or touring. And I wholeheartedly agree that we need more of all of them. And less SUV's.

So you call a WRX a wagon?

Fiesta?

I've been trying to find a wagon for my gf and proposing stuff like above just gets a laugh followed by "that's not a wagon".

To me a hatchback is like my old Vega or my old CRX. A couple modern day hatchbacks (to me) are the Z car and the Cayman. I sure wish my FR-S was a hatchback. I've said it before; this car screams to be a hatchback.

LOVED the eg and ek hatches. Hatches now a days are HUGE and HIDEOUS! I dont like how tall and bubbly they look! I do like the new Mazda3 though, very nice. I would've gotten an ek hatch but too many are stolen around where I live so no go. But one day I will own one!
