You are also correct in that a logic based controller will require ECU data. I'm not sure if the CAN data bus rate would be sufficient, especially during high traffic events. A direct SPI or I2C (I don't know what's used in the ECU) would be required.

Like I said above, given the effort required for what mid_life wants, an ECU tune is oh so easy. Heck, if it's dealer detection he's worried about, buy a second ECU for $600 and flash that one. Reinstall your original ECU for dealer visits.
I don't have much experience with the CAN bus, but you wouldn't need that high of a refresh rate for RPM/throttle. Neither changes all that fast in computer terms. As long as you had a reasonably quick refresh for boost level feedback you would be fine. If CAN isn't fast enough you could pull the throttle % directly from the pedal (which is more important than rpm since you would want instant response when you punch it) and RPM however you can.

I realize this seems like it belongs over on the open-source thread, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel when Rob has already done so much good work. I'd rather take his wheel and put fancier rims on it.
Exactly. Atleast with the arduino/open-source part.

Ive considered seeing if Rob would send me just the compressor/motor and let me create the controller, but my plans got shifted back from buying a house anyways.

ARM OFF = system off completely, DR, charging, boost.

Just editing the video's now.

Lets try to keep this on track, if anyone has any usability questions and whatnot im more then happy to answer them. Customizing the system to produce X or Y should be left to the open source thread.

Alright here are the video's, Both start in 3rd gear.

The first shows me accelerating normally using drag reduction and the NA engine.

After about 6000rpm i go full throttle.

WOT is represented by 69% relative throttle, if you see 69, im full gas, anything less is part throttle.

WOT at 20 seconds, this imitates someone accelerating using DR, then waiting behind someone to pass, then going partial thorttle again followed by full out WOT.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2RvuGnyICU&feature="]FRS BRZ phantom supercharger partial throttle, then WOT - YouTube[/ame]

This one is just a full out acceleration video, i can see that it appears torque is a little behind in updating and also seems a little slow.

Tip: Use the free track recorder plugin for torque so you can do video with gauges so no need for another camera.

Thanks, I've tried that it worked like shit. It either looks like balls or runs really slow. So slow that it is way off with the video.

Any tips? Am I doing something wrong?

Hey all,

Was doing some testing for Rob tonight on the new system and i have some results.

The following run was UNTUNED on the exp compressor(running very rich). Please remember that i am at +3500 ft and about 90 percent relative density.

This experimental supercharger pulls SO HARD. Im really impressed with the results and i just cant wait to see what it is going to do with a proper tune.

Highest trap speed on the Torque app was 101.2mph for what it is worth. I have this 0-60 clocked at about 5.5 to 5.75. Seems to start about 4.5sec and ends right at 10sec or so.

All in all i did 3 FULL 0-180+ runs to really put it through its paces and i must say it didnt let up.

Anyways here is a Video for you all, please enjoy!

The TQ-30024v kit sounds like it is really coming along. You mentioned that there is a change to the battery pack. Is is still located in the stock location?

I added an additional 2 batteries, its optional but it really helps the initial hit that this compressor brings.

Still in the stock location yes, i am running the largest battery tray possible currently. They are about the same size as one of the two original dump batteries. I think Rob said this expands the dump battery by about 50 percent compared to the traditional 2 batteries.

I got to say this new controllers DR is very impressive. It gives a really nice push at the 3000 to 3500 rpm range on shifts, its a really good feeling. If you hold the gas to about 4500 rpm or so and then tip in for some more acceleration it really pushes you forward..... im liking it

The case that this is most useful is when im driving my wife to work in the morning. She doesn't always like the full monty of acceleration at WOT so this is a nice little compromise.

You can see the additional two batteries in the center. It does start to complicate the wiring a bit though.

@Yruyur It's untimed though; or at least just a stopwatch. Also, scary!

It looks like the controller is also attached or adjacent to the battery pack. I assume the new batteries are run in series (to get 24V) and in parallel (to increase the amperage).

That sucks. I figured they would be using their two time drag strips.
