Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

I was browsing new cars online and i came across the new 2014 lancer ralliart and i was quite impress with it. Sedan v4 turbo with 230+ hp and 250+ tq all wheel drive.

I wanted to know what you guys think about having this car as a DD? Its not bad on gas and i really like the hood. (Sorry for no pics, i am on my itouch) if anyone ever owned one or a later model please share your experience.

Edit : someone hit my car pretty bad so i might need another car.

It's not a V4..it's in inline 4. Your FR-S should be your daily driver...

why is it that you need a 240 horsepower all wheel drive sedan for daily driving?

For the price of a new Ralliart you could get a used Evo X. While both cars have the 4B11T engine and TC-SST tranny, the suspension (and turbo, I think) on the Evo is significantly different. Watch this Aussie dude's videos on the subject: [ame]http://youtu.be/ksfut1tdP1o[/ame]

If you are thinking of any modding beyond an ECU tune and basic bolt-ons, it makes more sense to just get the Evo.

I DD'd my Evo for about a year, putting about 24,000 miles on it including a cross-country trip. I love it. I've never had any reliability problems. If you drive an FR-S the build quality and overall comfort of a Ralliart/Evo should be sufficient. The TC-SST can feel a little clunky at low speeds if you drive it in "Sport" mode (recommended on forums, the "Normal" mode slips the clutches too much and increases wear apparently). The trunk is TINY. And I mean ridiculously tiny. If you buy a full load of groceries expect to put half of them on the back seat. Don't expect to be able to transport any large/bulky items unless you fold back the front passenger seat or something. Gas mileage sucks for a 2.0L turbo engine IMO; I typically got 20city/26highway with a Cobb Accessport (supposedly slightly improves gas mileage because the factory tune is rich) but I have a slightly heavy foot. AWD is great in the snow/rain; you can point and laugh at other motorists during snowstorms (I have). But like I said, I'd highly recommend buying a used Evo X over a new Ralliart. Check the EvolutionM forums as well as South Coast Mitsubishi (biggest Evo dealer in the US) for good deals.

My mother has been driving mine the past few weeks since she took it out of government storage for me. She's no stranger to sports cars, having owned a C4 'Vette, Triumph TR6, FC RX-7, and currently a SLK350. She exclaimed "WOW! This car is FAST! And the handling is amazing!"

So go for it! It's nice to have a fast, practical all-season car that can comfortably seat 4 adults (3 in the back can be done, but it's a squeeze). Driving an AWD Mitsubishi is what got me hooked on sporty sedans.

Cuz it snows a lot in chicago and my car got hit twice already so the reliability on my car sucks.

sounds like you need a winter beater not a daily driver

buy some 10 year old FWD VW or similarly heavy car and put snow tires on it. Survive any winter.

My buddy had a 2012 rally art, and sold it because the gas milage sucked. Sure the milage might be 'alright' if you granny the car, but lets face it, when you have a fun car you don't granny it.

I dunno, my friend has a regular lancer and it is kind of shitty IMO. The suspension makes noise in the winter bits of trim are cheap some kind of trim was falling off, overall it's just not "refined". I dunno, but seeing his I wouldn't buy one.

he liked it for sure! he had a cob tuner which likely boosted the power by about 30hp.

but he drove my car and liked how it felt way better. he said and quote "I thought my car felt sporty, now it just feels like a fast/tuned sedan after driving this. I like how low and wide this feels"

Did you hit someone, or did they hit you? Did you use dedicated snow tires?

With good snow tires, I find my BRZ to be better than most FWD cars running all weather tires...

They hit me. It wasnt during winter but i am just saying that it is a plus for the winter.
