I probably need more exhaust/header work to put the windows down more often. I just remembered all the drives I had in the BMW, my windows pretty much stayed down and the music was off or low... wanted to hear that sweet sweet I6 twin turbo action. Shivering just thinking about it, lol.

I used to drive windows down with the music off for a long while. Not because I wanted to be more alert or anything. It was more to hear the revs and get used to the car. I also wanted to be able to hear if something didnt sound right for warranty and things like that.

Now that I'm used to it and I know all the normal sounds of the car, I'll do music on pretty much all the time. Night time with the windows down and the right kind of music make me happy! (:

Edit: 35,000km driven.

yes but its hard to hear the radio w/ the windows down. Ifeel like im going to blow the speaker if I do it on the highway.

I hate to tell you this but driving with your windows down at highway speeds causes hearing loss in the conversational range.

It depends. When I'm out on the backroads after work, I'll have the windows down to take in the scenery and fresher air. If I'm stuck on the highway, I'll have my windows up and music on to avoid all the super loud truck engine noise, and to inhale all the nasty exhaust smoke.

Got a sub installed and then realized that I hardly use it. Something about this car makes me love driving with the stereo off and windows down, as long as the weather is nice. Like someone else said, I only use my stereo when my gf is riding with me.

With an exhaust, the car sounds pretty nice, but not everyone likes listening to the "Sounds of Boxer, Vol. 2" all the time, so that USB thumb drive does the trick!

When I get my headers, there will probably be no point in listening to music .

Every car I have ever owned, I have music on a large percentage of the time. The windows are up more often than not, both when I'm alone or with a passenger. With my wife they're always up. When it cools down a bit and I'm alone I open the windows, but since a lot of my driving is at 50+ you can't hear a whole lot over wind noise anyway.

All the time when not on the highway, and I avoid those like the plague.

I never turn the radio on in this car, unless:

1) Long trip, and/or
2) Passenger

Otherwise, it's windows open and the sound of a non-resonated exhaust.

Windows up, music on most of the time because I like singing to the steering wheel. When I'm driving up and down mountain roads though, it's windows down, radio off (no reception up there anyway), and revs up.
