Welcome back. The forum was extremely quiet this weekend.

I agree that I think there is something wrong with your Perrin MBC. You are actually the only person I have ever known to use a Perrin MBC. Have you checked with all the @PERRIN boys on this site? All the Subaru guys either run the Hallman Pro or the Grimmspeed MBC. I will be very interested to see your results. It would have only been a little more money to get the GFB G-Force II EBC though.

$105 vs. $250+

I don't even remember what made me choose a Perrin MBC... LOL

At least the Hallman will be easier to move whenever I decide to go EBC.

Below are my Boost curves when on 93 pumpgas and hitting 11-12 psi, same Perrin MBC.

So I did some runs yesterday to see how Boost behaved. Interesting results. I think my Perrin MBC took a shit..... Two things why I think this. First look at the Red curve. That one is without Perrin MBC. It drops from 10.5 to about 9.7 which is fine, it has always been like that.
In situations like this, giving us a call could really help figure out what is going on. This part has been around for years and years and been one of those items we sell tons of with virtually ZERO problems. Also why go through the hassle and cost to buy something else when we could have easily taken care of you with zero out of pocket cost?

With any MBC, engine load plays a huge factor in the actual boost. Another factor is how hot the manifold is and how cool the charge air is. Between those factors you could get a change to the drop in boost. I just tuned a car with an MBC and it takes about 3 runs before boost settles and then it can be adjusted. Secondly if you do a run that is like a 1st gear the boost is much lower than if you do a run that is like 4th gear. I am not saying that is the problem here but that is what crossed my mind.

Second thing is debris in the MBC making the ball not seat (very rare), and thirdly if the MBC was taken apart and or unscrewed too far, its possible the spring got stuck making the adjustment not adjust anything.

I still want you to call with the part in hand and we can walk you through a couple of quick tests to see what is going on. We can quickly eliminated the MBC being the problem.

No biggie. I'm actually going to do a leak test on the whole intake tract to make sure its not a boost leak. I know you guys take care of us customers and I planned to call as soon as I had results ruling out a leak and testing other MBC. I have lots of Perrin products in my car and have had zero problems with them.

Just to add to the discussion, I do all runs in 3rd gear to eliminate that variable. I also always followed instructions as far as not taking the screw too far out, only taken it out so that 5 lines can be seen. I will have results later this week and will update everyone. I have not 1000% ruled out the MBC is ok and something different is the issue.

Thanks for chiming in.

Still give me a ring with that in hand. One quick "Blow" test will tell us a bunch

I deal with a bunch of weird setups all the time and the first thing I always do is a pressure test of the system starting at the inlet of the turbo. I have a cap and silicone coupler that I will clamp to the intake (prefer at the filter) and pressurize everything to 20psi (or more). It's amazing the leaks you find!! On the BRZ's I find that the crank case vent hose under the manifold blows off easily as well as the upper hoses on the intake manifold (under the cover). One of those creates a big enough leak that not only do you loose boost, but your AFR's will run super rich, which effects the boost big time(because of cooler EGT's) when using an MBC.

Just a few more things to think about.

Thanks for the chat on the phone Jeff. I will update everyone with the results of my leak test.
