This is exactly my point... given the high CR, new engine etc etc why would they intentionally defeat the IAM system.. if your IAM worked it way down to .2 why in the heck would subaru / toyota think it is a good idea to reset that to .7 since .7 puts you back on the low det timing map and gives you more advance? That is a recipe for warranty engine replacements.....

Maybe they did drop the ball and design it to reset to the initial value every time you restart but that just seems rather silly doesn't it? Considering others have already verified their IAM does not reset.. seems like there is some information we are missing.

The group of cars you mentioned checking, were they ecuteked or un-touched ecu?

FWIW, i transferred my tune to ZA1JA01C this am and the IAM changes (and fine learning table) stuck around between 4 different drive cycles today while i was running errands. The first shutdown saw about 2 hours before the restart. Will test some more tomorrow and into the week.

And @regal.. sorry if i came off like a d!ck in my reply to your post about your findings.

ok well, this AM when i started the car the IAM reset as did the fine correction table. I need to check next time and see if the long term trims reset when this happens as well...

The mystery continues

I agree this is something that needs to be hammered out. I am running EcuTek, and my IAM persists until I reflash the ECU with a new ROM, so let me know if there is anything I can do to help figure this out.

Could it be something as stupidly simple as scion / toyota vs subaru?

No Rest:
@King Tut is BRZ
@xjohnx is BRZ

Reset:
@mad_sb is FRS
@feldy is FRS
@regal is FRS

@moto-mike made the comment about the push button start cars seem to keep the IAM... are all BRZ's push button? Are any Toyota's push button?

all BRZ limiteds are push button, all premiums are turn key.

all scions are turn key, except for the 10 series.

The EUDM GT86 is push-button. As you know, mine resets the IAM on start.

I could see this. If it isn't ROM specific, then it could be something in the difference in the wiring in the car. I know when I was posting about where to find a good tach signal I was surprised to find that some of the twins don't have the same certification ECU box under the dash.

Yes, thinking it may be subaru vs toyota rather than push button vs turn key. Perhapse there is an options bit that enables persistent IAM that is not set on toyota ecu's or roms. Although Shiv said the car he has been testing with does keep the IAM and it is a scion running a scion rom so that kinda blows my theory.....
