I hear a clunk coming from my rear when I hit a small 90 degree bump. Definitely sounds like a suspension related thing...

Well my dealer refused to try the rear deck fix. They said since the car is lowered they won't do it. First issue I have had with being modded. Thankfully I downloaded the TSB and will just try it myself. Gotta go buy the grease. I will try the one in the trunk first, then if that does not solve it I will try the rear deck area.

Clearly there are 2 different issues being discussed here. The op states he can feel it in the steering wheel and floor, that is not the rear deck "click" which i had and solved myself with WD40. I don't understand why people jump in on this if they feel a noise in the rear wheel (Unless our cars have rear wheel steering which i was unaware of.... Yes I'm joking).

@RallySport Direct and the OP seem to be posting about the same issue as me. Keep in touch if you come to any conclusions. I also check things when i have the car on a hoist but nothing is obviously loose. I have the Stranoparts bar but I can't see anywhere that it's touching.

I think I'm having the OP's issue as well.

It started about 2 weeks ago ~12Mm (12,000 km) and slowly getting worse.

It's most prominent after a cold (more like average morning temperature) start and when backing out of my driveway with the steering wheel almost fully turned.

I tried to do some jerky braking and turning the wheel while the car is stationary, but I didn't hear anything.

I've read in other threads that have similar symptoms and noises happening. It was resolved by tightening the bolts that fasten the undercover. If the steering is causing the undercover to warp, then I can see this as being a viable solution. I plan to try it out tonight. If it doesn't work, I'll book an appointment with the stealership.

Dropping off @ the dealer today 6pm. Hopefully they will figure it out and tell me tomorrow, will update thread. I have a feeling it's something along the lines of control arm/shock related.

Solved: The noise came from the Under cover

I finally lifted my car up. Slid under and attempted to tighten the 8 bolts that helps to hold the metal under cover found under the engine.

I first tightened all the bolts to see how much they were loosened by. Only the top right [POV: when you slide under the car, facing up...obviously] bolt was noticeably loose.

I then loosed all the bolts and tightened them again to the specified torque to remove the stress from the under cover.

I lowered my car and all those thumping/creaking noises were gone when I replicated the actions that caused those noise just moments before.

Hope this helps.

It helps if you remove the dead hookers from your trunk.

amg - thanks I will check this out this weekend.

Of course the dealer was a total bust. Please allow me to vent...

dropped my car off at 6 and left specific instructions on how to reproduce sound. I also asked for the ECU update for DI seals protection and to check out my shifter, which still continues to vibrate even after TSB replacement.

The guy that was in charge of my car took the day off. No one called, so I called today at 2pm, they said they would call me right back. No call... So I called back at 3:00 and the answer was basically "we couldnt reproduce the problem and that's all we know".

Went to the dealer, reproduced the problem over and over. They had no idea whether or not they have reflashed the ECU nor looked into the shifter problem. Needless to say the car is back in my garage.

I got this issue after installed my stance coilovers. I contacted stance usa about it and they said it was top locking nut. They said i had to torque it down while holding the shaft, but it is incredibly hard to hold it while torquing it. I have yet to figure out how to do it

amg gets the cookie. I do believe it was the under-tray. Seems as though last time I was under there I didn't tighten it down well enough. I should know 100% once a regular work day of driving is done. For right now it passes the driveway test.

Just loosened the 8 12mm bolts up, then retightened. Will see what happens.

They can all be reached with the car on the ground, which seems preferable to doing this on a lift or jackstands as the vehicles frame is loaded as it would be while driving.

The service manual states 22 lb/ft for the m12 bolts and 5 lb/ft for the m10 bolts.

Hopefully it is. I am going to re-tighten mine as well.

I thought we were supposed to keep them there for sound damping
