It has always been like that, always.

I really feel bad for those poor souls around that "trust their dealership" or think their "dealership is awesome". It's not, believe me.

The reality is that THE money maker for those dealerships, specially the "mom and pops" ones is their service & parts department. They know people are going to try to take care of their new cars, and they run this whole "Subaru specialist, experts, etc" logo, and unfortunately people fall for it, and take their vehicles to them.

The "dealership model" as a whole was based on a simple principle, which is "make profits out of the lack of information and communication of the consumer".

That was easy to pull off before this past decade, before the internet, forums and reviews online. However, now there is absolutely no place for dealerships in the market, and certainly the whole dealership model will go away in the future.

5 star breakdown right there.
I was one of those saps before I finally became an owner. I take better care of my car then myself! Well, not really.
They do the bare minimum just so your car operates past the measely 6yr/60k. It's pathetic. I lose a considerable amount of longevity out of my car because they fail to take care of it the way I would at every point of service. They reduce your cars life-span because then that means more business once the warranty runs out.

Thing is this was only the first visit, meaning they just had to look at it and order the parts lol

Turns out what actually happened is he drove out the back to check the GPS, not sure how long he was gone though because I couldn't see the rear entrance from where I was.

But still seems excessive was over hour wait for that.

Also haven't got a call yet about the part, its been a week now I think? Wonder if they are still back ordered.

I can assure you not every dealer is like that. I'm an enthusiast that now manages a Subaru dealership service department. Each dealer is a separate entity, there are just as many honest dealers as there are dishonest dealers. You just need to find the right one...

Ok update time. So they called me and yes they did order both lights, so +1 to them for that even though they still giving me an attitude tone when speaking with me. But here is the kicker

When scheduling the appointment she said when can I leave the car? I said leave it? I have to wait its my only car.
She says well its going to take 2 or 3 hours, maybe 4, they have to line everything up.
So I asked line up what? What???
She responds the lights.
Me: ................................ I'll just wait, I know it's not a hard procedure.

So I'm going tuesday, will see what happens. Also going to show them my GPS videos since I have a 2-4 hour wait for tail light installation ROFL

EDIT: Just looked at TSB, they are given half an hour labor for the installation.

You are 100% right. I had a Nissan and Mazda dealer when I lived outside of DC that would bend over backwards for me.

It is hit joe miss. I have not had any issues with my BRZ yet, so it is hard to say how the dealer will treat me.. Hopefully I will just be driving the car in for routine maintenance (free first two years).

I had the same problems with my dealer regarding the tsb's. They couldn't reproduce anything and wouldn't replace anything even though I had 3 tsb's. I finally got them to do all the work after going to the manager of the dealership. What dealer is this?

I'll post after they fix the lights and GPS (if I can get them to do it lol)

I liked the dealer I bought my car from but they are 300 miles away. I actually made a trip out there so they could install the limited spoiler on my premium because I wouldn't have trusted another dealer.
