We'll see... I am going to postpone my return trip until I can get some condensation to appear in the left tail light so I can tell them to suck it. but the weather looks clear for at least a week so.... Time to break out the hose

These are my 2 GPS videos, forgive the music in the first one its short in stop go traffic. Second is stationary in a store parking lot.

What do you think the service guy is going to say in response to these?

Tell them you want the TSB done for the GPS antenna relocation. They will install a new antenna bracket behind the head unit, and relocate the antenna. They did it for me free of charge, and it completely eliminated any issues I had with GPS signal strength.

It will download a PDF of the TSB issued BY SUBARU, which you can print and take in with you.

EDIT: If they say they can't do anything about the GPS unless they see the problem, report them to Subaru Corporate, and find another dealer who will do the repair for you.

I printed out and gave them the TSB for the GPS antenna when I went there. The receipt said "customer reports poor GPS signal". and there was a hand written note next to it "unable to reproduce at this time".

The service rep (not the guy who looked at car) said they have been having issues with subaru auditing them on warranty work which is why they are acting like this (being hard asses for no reason)......

I'd raise hell at that. You're not asking them to investigate, you're asking them to fix an acknowledged design flaw that Subaru HQ has developed a resolution for.

I can understand wanting to be cautious about doing potentially bogus warranty work, but this isn't just you coming in with some random complaint and demanding it be fixed under warranty.

I think it really depends on which dealership - aren't dealerships independently owned? ... I know a lady who works for Ford and a part of her job is to convince individual dealerships to participate in whatever Ford initiatives and promotions they have going on at the time ... My online service appointment worked out fine for me - sorry to hear about your bad experience.

When I go back for the tail light replacement I will show them the videos and hopefully it is acting up at that time. If they still refuse I'll call whatever corporate number subaru has and see what are my options.

Yes it is complete shit IMO but I also understand they may have strict guidelines for warranty work. So I won't try to cause any problems and just hear them out for the time being.

took my dealer 6 months to get the "flash" for the nav. But after they do it its great. 6 months of gps signal lost at least twice a day is borderline suicide worthy

dig in the other sections as there is a TSB on the nav problem.

If it doesn't show up next time I bring it I will offer the guy a ride to show him. If it still doesn't I'll try to scare him for the lolz

I'm curious to see what they say. The more I read and learn from this community the more it seems the "Service Department" is just a fancy term for "Making sure we make maximum profit."
My dealership said if I do my own oil change it will void the warranty. I truly understand your frustration

when I went to Toyota on a SCHEDULED appointment it took 45 mins to get my taillight replaced on the 40th minute I went up to the service advisor and told him it does not take 40 mins to do such a procedure and to give me the taillight and ill do it in 30seconds... my car was finished immediately
