Hell if I broke my Navi I doubt I'd realize it as crappy as it is... And I doubt that the dealer would realize that it was something I did as many issues as they probably have to deal with!

Wrong. Try it if you don't believe me. SD cards have unique IDs that are also encoded into the software.
I tried cloning my SD card to a faster one in hopes of speeding the Navi a bit, didn't work.

That is unfortunate. Seems like a silly design to put the card in an easily accessible place and not allow you to use a larger one.

Per the navigation owners manual (P. 177) you are allowed to make one backup copy. Using the Navteq software, "Naviextras Toolbox" you can make a backup, and then restore the backup. Question is, can you restore to a different SD card? I would assume so, in the event the original was lost or destroyed.

Can you swap the OEM card into a different unit (car)?

It's on Subaru's website.

I got my refund check today after I bought the update.

I also need an update. This GPS is really crap. I hope the update reduces load times and increases performance too.

The navigation really is garbage. I've tried it multiple times and it's almost always a failure in calculating the best route or re-routing. Most of the time if I go off-path, it will try to navigate me back on the longer/crappy path it first gave me instead of finding a better route. I've tested this on a few occasions.

I hate having a nice in-dash navi yet I am still using google maps navi on my phone. And to top it off, no steering wheel controls. Subaru really failed with this aspect of the car, everything else I love. I can't wait until there are nice Android units available.

I must be the only person not having an issue with the Nav system. I've gotten everywhere I need to go efficiently.

I contacted SOA and asked about the nav update, and they also offered to reimburse me just this once out of good faith. So I'll be updating mine later when I get home.

Some people like the button-less steering wheel, like me. I think the best option for us customers would be for Subaru to offer different steering wheels like Porsche does (controls/no controls, paddles/tip). But then that wouldn't be cost-efficient for Subaru I imagine.

I can understand why Subaru left the controls off the steering wheel and I actually prefer it that way. It gets in the way for performance driving.
