I leave the SC/TC the vast majority of the time, Running with it habitually off seems foolish at best.

Example: I was coming home one night from work at 3 am. It was raining and dark and i took a 90 degree turn slowly despite going at a seemingly proper speed for conditions the rear end still tried to run away. Maybe I could have still saved it with TC but I'm glad that TC was there to lend a hand when something unexpected happened.

That being said if I actually want to slide around I will absolutely turn the systems off as the they actually cut in during more adventurous driving in a way that makes the car behave in a manner that I don't anticipate or intend and can be more "dangerous" in a sense. Nothing like getting the start of a good slip angle and having the VSC sport mode suddenly jerk you straight in harsh manner.

But driving like that at all time would be silly, foolish, and inappropriate. As a rule of thumb, leave the systems on; you are not a world class F1 driver reincarnated; and if you were you'd recognize the value of these systems and leave them on. Take it to the track and when you're done leave it there. Even on roads that I only visit for the joy of driving them I still leave the systems activated in some capacity, I have no desire to see my new $30K toy wrinkled up in the ditch because I ran out of talent and it was too late for me to realize it and do something about it.

EDIT: I will say, it's not until you turn the nannies off that you realize just how balanced, brilliant, and truly easy to drive this car is. It truly does what you want and is very easy to smoothly slide around in a controlled fashion.

Tire blowing out, getting sideswiped, mechanical failure of your vehicle or of a vehicle near you, someone changing lanes on the freeway with no blinker and without looking (20 mph speed differential is quite shocking no matter how prepared you are), black ice, oils, animals on the road, high winds, falling debris (rocks, trees), road failure, debris that obscure your vision. That's what I came up with.

I know you just counter with generic "well I wouldn't allow myself to be in that situation/traction control kicks in unexpectedly I react better without it" but the facts remain that nobody is perfect and the sooner you accept that the smoother your life will be. Traction Control systems are beneficial for driving on public roads, get off your high horse.

Edit: I'm right there with you, if the option existed to get a car without the junk I would, but don't go around preaching how awful they all are, you just make an ass of yourself.

TC is useless in that scenario. I had that happen to me in june when an old lady merged into the expressway, I was on the left lane and the merge is on the right as it typically is... I was behind a ford taurus with about 2 or 3 car lengths of separation, the taurus passes her and I'm following, then the damn bitch switched lanes abruptly in front of me and she was doing almost 20 below the speed limit. Good brakes saved my ass, had she done that a spit second later, my bimmer would probably had been totaled as she would have clipped me.

Funny, when it happened to me it was the ABS that saved me (I didn't know the car well enough to threshold brake, still new) which is most definitely a part of traction control.

I separate them, ABS has been available long before TC, and disabling TC on a car doesn't disable ABS.

the moment i start my car whether it's a cold start in the morning or full temp, i always turn off the trac/stability assist. Just like tonight, while waiting for the GTA 5 release, headed home on the on ramp with traction control off and dead cold tires, it was a fun corner

The fact of the matter is you can never completely anticipate what others are going to do when behind the wheel. But feel free to continue on with your uncanny abilities to perceive what everyone else around you will do at any given moment, more power to you...just know that you're one move away from a car suddenly crossing into your lane.

Last I checked TC won't save you from someone crossing onto your lane... so your post has nothing to do with the discussion at hand

Lol! Where exactly was there an insult being made? Actually no need to respond to that...valid arguments have been made, by me and others on this thread. No point in beating a dead horse, like I've said, your driving skills are far superior to any TC system that's ever been equipped in any modern age vehicle...I'll leave it at that.
