A big part of muscle cars is having the nose down and the ass up. They use to do this by changing the rear leaf spring mounts and chopping the front springs. Staggered diameters allows this without messing with the suspension and sacrificing performance. It was also used by drag racers to allow them to have big burn outs and as soon as they took off the weight would shift to the back as the nose came up giving them more traction. The look is not for everyone but big time muscle car guys normally like to see the nose down a bit.

I didn't say it was bad (quite the opposite - it's an excellent car), but at $24-32k (depending on market and options), it's definitely low-end, along with the MX5. In many ways, actually, that's a large part of its appeal. It's clearly in a completely different class from the $55-120k Corvette, or the $330k+ Ferrari.

I still wouldn't call the BRZ low end, the FRS is low end because it doesn't have the HID's or LED's in the front among other things. I don't have the premium BRZ though, I have the limited model that nearly pushes $30,000 You are entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. The Miata is in it's own class though. If we're going to be honest here, the BRZ is higher end than the Mustang for sure. To me a low end car does not do 150 mph with only 200hp, that's more like a higher end car. |

Staggered wheel diameter? Never noticed that on Corvettes. Will take a closer look next time I see one. Aside from the rear wheels looking more full relative to the taller back end, having a bigger diameter wheels also makes the contact patch longer (relative to the axis of the car) which might be good for stability under acceleration?

And how is the FRS low end when it's the same car minus some HID's? The point being made was the FRS/BRZ are entry level sports cars.. Just because you bought one with more options.. Doesn't change the fact that they are entry level sport cars. |

Okay, let's talk some reality then.
Name any new entry level rwd sports car that slots in below twins or the MX5. I don't want to hear the "but... but.. the Subaru isn't entry level!" because it is. It's the same car with a couple of extra features. Like a PRHT Grand Touring MX5. The MX5 and the twins are entry level, bottom of the barrel sports cars. This is not a bad thing, it just means that everything else goes up from there. |

Minimalist imo would be a Lotus Elise, or even better, the Ariel Atom. The Vette doesn't have a great interior, but what puts it a league above the twins is the performance. The new one makes that gap even wider. |

Performance is also a relative term. I always had to hold back with the vette.. Never being able to utilize the power and grip in everyday driving. Put your foot in it for more than 3 seconds.. And it's off to jail in cuffs. The FRS has useable power and handling for everyday fun! I seriously enjoy this car more than my last few high dollar, high powered machines.. I don't worry where I park it, LEO's , new tire cost.. Etc.. Sometimes less is more.. And a lot more fun! |
