I'm really usually a happy camper and full of smiles and butterflies, but my car pissed me off. Then when I wanna vent to people that I think will understand, I get a bunch of stupid responses. Thanks for the help for those who helped.

I bought a warrenty as well but, I tend to torque and change mine as needed js the dealers a joke. I just liked the fact toyota said they'd cover engine, tranny, wheels everything if any of it went haywire you got trolled by your dealer. I went corp I love my car installed full sway struts control arms end links etc if I didn't like it I made small adjustments to my liking. Also the comment about that guy only posting 4 times has no warrent get off the Internet and fix your car. Or sell that shit to someone for 24k or sign it over trade it in.

Oooh, I want to chime in on the Lexus vs FRZ comparison as I actually have grounds to compare Lexus and the Toyobaru:

Yup, both in the same garage at the same time. Both are first year models.

2012 Lexus CT200h - MSRP $29,995 (No options)

2013 BRZ Premium - MSRP ~$27,775 (Not a Limited so not all the options)

These are two cars in roughly the same price bracket with the Lexus being more of a $30k car versus the BRZ being in the high 20's. Both have the same tires stock amazingly and same size wheels.

The CT200h of course is a Prius Drivetrain, which is quite refined and has been around awhile. Its maintenance free and trouble free, which is quite nice. The BRZ/FRS has a new drivetrain that is mostly untested (well the direct injection and transmission are untested, the engine design itself has been around a few years now).

However, some interesting things to note...

The Lexus rides stiff but CRASHES over bumps due to the weight of the car and the high spring rates, the BRZ has a MUCH more compliant ride. The BRZ also has far better visibility (especially out the front) and less blind spots. I would also say practicality is a wash, as the BRZ has a good trunk and a ton of room with the seats down, but of course the CT200h can fit 4 people no problem unlike the BRZ/FRS.

Mileage is much much better with the CT200h as it always hits over 40mpg, but I've hit between 25 and 33mpg with the BRZ so far which is FANTASTIC for a sports car let and pretty good if it was a economy sedan.

The road noise is roughly the same between the two. The BRZ has more noise from the front while the CT200h has more from the rear. Tire noise is the same and sound deadening isn't much different after you delete the intake pipe on the BRZ (I have a TRD intake right now, its super quiet).

Handling at first feels pretty similar with the CT200h in sport mode, until you actually turn the cars XD The CT200h just understeers you to death while the BRZ/FRS has the best aggressive steering feel short of a Boxter as we all know. The Sport mode in the CT artificially stiffens the steering and improves the throttle response, but its still a prius drivetrain so ya...

Reliability wise, the CT200h had an interior door handle break off and one recall for a coolant pipe, and it has now developed a clunk from the rear suspension that I suspect is either a tophat or strut. Overall reliability has been good for a for a first year model.

My BRZ hasn't developed any issues yet, but the shifter feel I haven't been to happy yet. And actually I prefer the seats in the CT200h! (fantastic seats) I wish I had the power seat adjustment from the CT200h to get a better seating position in the BRZ with more thigh support and more aggressive rake. There are no rattles in my BRZ yet at all after 2000 miles, and I can probably fix any that occur with ease due to the simple design of this car.

Anyway, kind of a pointless comparison but still, its a Lexus vs. FRZ that are both about the same money brand new (within $2k) and I think both are great cars but I wouldn't trade my BRZ for one EVER (but maybe the seats I might :P )

The point about 4 posts was that it seemed like he just joined the forum after just purchasing the car, so he wouldn't have experienced any of these problems yet.

I literally want to just say fuck it and get rid of the car, but I will lose a shit ton of money and it's not so easy for a college kid to do that. I don't think I will ever not buy a Lexus again. I was optimistic about this car that it was a cheap sports car. But that's just it. It's cheap. Cheaply made, cheaply taken care of, and cheaply fixed when problems arise. And I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of lemon law because my car hasn't "been to the dealer enough" and it was purchased and licensed in a different state. I truly hope everyone else is happy with their car but I see why a lot of people are starting to sell; they don't want the issues. If my axle fails at 6,000 miles without any tracking, what does that mean for the entire car? I know it's mostly Subaru, but the fact that Toyota would put this car out as their own sickens me. Maybe I do just have a lemon. Maybe I am overreacting. But I'm sick of my car in particular, but I may be stuck with it for awhile. Why can't they come out with a new fuel pump after over a year of knowing about it? Do they not care? I hate taking my car to the dealer to tell them everything that's wrong, wait 8 hours, then be told they could not replicate ANYTHING. I have no fun driving this car anymore. And I can't believe I have to pay for something, with a warranty, that has so many problems that aren't being fixed. /rant
I can understand your need to rant and complain.. But it sounds like you need to take a step back.. And look at your car in a different light. Entry level sports cars are compromised. They are loud, lots of mechanical sounds not normally found in regular cars, clunks and rattles are common.. Lots of NVH which translates into direct feel and feedback for the driver.. Which many consider to be defects..
I suggest you focus on the real issues.. Which seems to be the transmission.
Several others are getting the trams replaced as they are defective.
Instead of bitching to the dealer about everything being wrong.. Get The real big issues fixed..., the tranny. Bring it in for that alone.. Get the core problems resolved first.. And don't blame the car if you go replacing OEM parts with aftermarket pieces that lack heat shields and have fitment issues and vibrate everything till it all rattles. You are most likely the culprit of your rattles judging from your mods. The fuel pump issue is widespread.. And I'm sure there will be a proper fix somewhere down the road.. It functions fine.. But chirps.. Get over it.. It will be addressed.. Have some faith in the OEM.. They didn't get where they are today by screwing people over. Work things out systematically..
Bit by bit.. Go after the REAL issues first.. Then the others can be addressed..
But for now.. Stand back and look at your car.. It's a great ride.. Has a few issues to be worked out.. No biggie.. Nothing's perfect.. If it was... It would be boring..

Like I said, I've gotten good information from certain posters in this thread that have helped me figure out who to contact and it has calmed me down about the car. So I don't get why people keep flaming about it. I was upset, rightfully so, but now I've got leads on what to do next. I hate how everyone makes stupid assumptions that they cannot back up. It's crazy how much some of you guys just assume stuff.

If you hate how people make stupid assumptions about what problems you're having, yet dislike how we just make shit up that we can't back up, then don't allow us to make shit up we can't back up.

Solve your problem first. Rant afterwards once you've exhausted all your channels.

The mere fact that a random member can, via your rant, offer useful advise is my own proof that you didn't do all you can do to solve your problem. I don't need to assume this, I've already been down this road when trying to buy my car in the first place.

I would have done things differently:

- Contact dealers to solve issue
- Talk with multiple SA's or managers to resolve issue
- Talk with GM or management to resolve issue
- Document all communication
- Provide overall log/picture to Toyota Corporate
- Then, if no solution is offered on the local level, I would go farther out or start hitting up forums for info

But yes, it's all our stupid responses and you have every right to rant and not expect "stupid responses" in return since you own this thread.

Man I remember the old days when it was expected for entry level priced cars to not be perfect.

That was the day of fun cars too.

Sure, these cars aren't perfect and some of the issues shouldn't be happening, but damn it's really not the end of the world.
