Car salesman are morons. All they know are available options, financing deals that are going on, and selling points.

Hell, a close friend of mine IS a Toyota Salesman, and when I talked to him he adamantly stated that this car was actually going to be ~$35,000 or so.

He's a good friend...but I still laughed in his face after that.

We don't have SCIONs here in Canada, but once I went into a Toyota Dealership to pick up bunch of parts for my 86. There wasn't any parking left so I parked in between some used cars for sale. I walked out 10 min later with my bundle of parts and some sales slimeball was trying to sell my Hachi to some lady as a inline 6 Supra!! I chortled.

Hate to say so, but salesmen are pretty retarded sometimes.

Select Dealerships -- basically that means if your in the province of Ontario, you have a SLIGHT chance to get a SCION vehicle.

They are still not in Canada like they want to be.

I actually think Scion has potential..... not that I'd buy one though.

I paid 22k for my rs2 tc off the truck back in 2006. Scions can break the 20k with options. The tc itself has 3 models. Tuner, base and special editions. You won't walk away with a special edition for less than 20 brand new. This alone leaves the possibilty of the ft86 being a scion badge. Scion sells cars to a younger audience and this one will be no different. They can market this car at 19500 and sell a special/turbo for 25k. They did it with the tc. Tc new with super charger factory installed went for around 21k. That is a buyers choice.

I would be thrilled for this to be under scions name. I loved my tc, but it was no sports car. Fun to drive after I boosted it but was not reliable. Toyota knows that there is a market for turbo cars that they have no part in. They want a share of it. Why do you guys think they bought 30ish percent of fuji heavy industries? Because fuji knows boosted cars. They have done it for decades. Nothing is holding toyota back from making a normal n/a model and a factory turbo model. They have subbie techs now. Its just a matter of time before they reveal it. Calling it now.

At least bring something relevant to the conversation rather than bash me for driving a honda.

As much as they're prepared to produce a turbo vehicle, and I can't say whether or not they want to... it'd go against what they've repeatedly said about this thing having amazing throttle response. People can argue all day long, but in the end, a turbo will not have as good response as an N/A vehicle.

If they're gonna go boosted with this thing, it'll be a S/C option.

As much talk as they've done about the throttle response on this thing, and it being a hachi-roku revival, this thing will not be turbo'd.

Very very valid point Lex. I am impartial to the turbo but they can also make a car that has 30+mpg turbo'd as well. Yes, of course throttle response is lacking with a boosted car and usually super chargers are not worth it...However, I do hope that it breaks the 200hp mark or at least hovers near it.

Like I said, there may always be options but that is up for speculation as well. Good throttle response on a turbo is basically having it rev'd high at all times, effectively killing the engines life span. Toyota wouldn't want that either. Curious to see how they play this one out.

Have you seen the Boxer engine? Where you put the S/C on Boxer engine?

Toyota is going to be selling this car to people who know the original. That's its key market. Same concept as the Mustang/Camaro revival's with the retro styling.

So basically if Ford badged the Mustang as a Mercury, they would have sold shit.

If Toyota makes this anything other than Toyota, they will kill sales.
