AEM intake system uses K&N Filter but includes a tune for the maf and deletes sound tube. only intake worth a look imo.

With the Unichip and the right map, car ran very smoothly withvery good throttle response and feel with just a K&N panel filter. Without the Unichip it still made a difference. You hear a lot of crap about K&N and they take a lot of fire for their products, but when you read independent comparison tests (hard to find ones that don't have a biased slant BTW) they work well and are reliable. The dirtier they get, the better they work.

I bought the trd air filter and it was ok! But when i replaced it with a k&n one, i notice the difference. The engine breathes better, sounds better and better performance. And under normal speeds, a slight better gas milage.

Has anyone put only a K&N air filter in their BRZ and what performance differences did you experience?
If you seriously cant find any information on a drop in filter your not trying hard enough. Why dont you try using the search feature and search drop in filters. Tons of threads on this subject. All drop in filters are the same just pick one from a company you prefer. Almost all types of drop ins will perform the same as company a and b. Only if it is a drop in that isnt oiled will it not do as well as an oiled filter but 1 more whp from an oiled filter isn't worth the hassle of oiling and worrying about over oiling the filter messing up the MAF.

Cleaning up is a hassle where as a dry reusable it is much easier to clean up and re use. Of all the drop ins though I dont like K & N. I prefer to support the smaller companies who made a name for themselves by making quality products. K & N is already well known help out the vendors who arent as big of an operation but still offer quality products.

Just echoing the others here. Installed my K&N filter last week (the car had a little over 700 miles on it so the OEM filter was still clean). I haven't noticed a difference in performance but to me it sounds a little less raspy with a bit more growl when revving.

Trd filter wasn't impressive? I thought k and n actually made the trd filter and toyota sold it as its own. What was the difference in make and quality and performance?

I did a perrin intake tube and a K&N at the same time. Car has a little more "pep" with the car. Throttle response is better too. If you are looking for bit gains, this isn't it, but worth the money IMHO.

I recently upgraded to a K&N drop-in. First time I got on the throttle, I threw a rod.

I really should have done supporting mods first.

It's just a less restrictive air filter. How can you throw a rod with it?
It isn't even like the TRD CAI which doesn't need a tube either

That's totally right - and most people don't know that the additional airflow of the K&N requires fuel enrichment, so you need to buy larger injectors and a new fuel pump to support the additional air flow.

And yet not so with the TRD CAI?
