Question K&N Air Filter

I couldn't find anything so I made this thread

Has anyone put only a K&N air filter in their BRZ and what performance differences did you experience?

First day I got the car, K&N Filter.

Did it do anything? ...Eh, better throttle response and slight better sound.

I put the K&N filter on my car and gained 38whp and 80torques!!!! Dyno proven. No joke, it was nuts, we tried it on 14 different dynos and the drop in filter made it so you nearly pealed your face off when you mash the throttle!

I installed one at 2500 miles. Better sound and slightly noticeable power boost. There's a thread on the forums here comparing 3 different ones and their dynos

Actually, in most modern cars, extensive flow testing is done on the intake system to meet a wide variety of flow demands. A drop in filter is the best solution to allow more flow while still maintaining the optimal flow pattern as designed.

I hear a lot of talk about the intake not being loud enough and people cutting off and removing the stock intakes resonators. They want to make the intake louder, well, sound is air pressure. Thats air pressure thats not going into your intake. The resonators work to keep the air pressure optimal. The sound generation tube is what allows you to hear the sound of the throttle body from the intake without compromising the flow in any direction.

I just got the car like 2 months ago, I am absolutely not taking major components apart just to get some extra power I'm not dying for. I'm planning on the K&N so the engine can breathe better, sure it will make it the slightest bit quicker but I'm not concerned with that. With most new cars, if you look at it wrong the warranty get voided. Sometimes I feel like Cameron Frye. " It could get wrecked, stolen, scratched, breathed on wrong... a pigeon could shit on it! Who knows?"

I put a K&N filter in a week ago. I don't notice much difference.. maybe a little different sound and perhaps a little more throttle response at high rpms. It was worth the $40.. but no miracle as far as I'm concerned.
