All stock these brakes are horrific for hard driving... but a set of pads, rotors and a bottle of fluid is pretty inexpensive and will greatly increase their usefulness.

Heck, the little AP 4-pot front kit would be a wonderful upgrade.

Stock brakes are very sketchy in terms of high speed braking. I don't trust them.

when choosing fluid, don't go over-board on the race specific stuff that have boiling points you'll probably never reach

forget what the word is, hydroscopic or something.. anyway some of the brands absorb moisutre at a greater rate than your regular stuff, so unless you intend to frequently do a flush, choose them wisely

RBF600, AFAIK, is one of those...

I hated the stock brakes, going to Ferodo 2500 made a big difference. I also had to bleed my brakes not too long after picking it up, there was lots of air in the lines, that made a big difference too.

SS lines and good brake fluid (RBF600 or 660 may be overkill as 7thgear mentions) may be your second to least expense to improve braking. The least expensive is replacing the OEM pads with street perf pads that are also quiet and less dust.

"My brakes suck because I need to press the pedal harder than I think I should" is not really a valid argument...
Plus brakes don't stop the car, the tires do. To complain about or upgrade the brakes and not the tires is pretty dim.

Stock brakes are excellent for ther intended use.

I'll go further and say with this chassis you hardly need brakes except for red lights. Fit decent tires first then worry about brakes. If you're heating up these brakes consider getting a performance driving lesson. Seriously, on the street I hardly touch the brake pedal on this car.

It took a good long while for the brakes to break in. They feel fantastic now though.

Please check out my FT86 Brake Upgrade Guide. I think that will give you some ideas. As others have said, a basic pad/line/fluid upgrade will give you the feel you seek. After that, any further brake modifications would be geared towards addressing braking confidence and repeatability under high heat conditions.
