Might have something to do with you asking for a mid range performance coil over and then post some cheap coilover used for only one thing.. Stance.. Of course the people that buy them love them.. But they don't compare to a proper midrange coil over like say KW.. 2k starts the midrange.. Except I really like fortune auto, that's the only sub 1500$ coil over I'd put up above the cheap 1k coilovers...

So they are answering your questions, just not what you want to hear.. Most people would rather stay stock or just lowering springs before they throw stance, or BC or anything like that

A helpful hint to start is to perhaps name your budget range, because "not too expensive" for me is anything under $2500 for a coilover system.

Considering you'd be blowing $2500-3000 on wheels alone, what would "mid tier, not too expensive" exactly come out to? Some people can't justify spending $200-300 each wheel...

Every time I see one of these threads, I feel like the person seeking the advice can help narrow down a lot of noise by providing the proper info. Sort of like using Google... to find the answer one must ask the right question.

So here's what you need to provide:

- Budget
- Wheel fitment: normal or abnormal/extreme
- Do you care about warranty/serviceability
- Are you good enough to dial in a car yourself suspension-wise

Or, we can all throw out our own definitions of "budget". I suggest Ohlins RT, it's what I have and I love them.

I just went through this process on my RX-7, to replace the Tein SS coilovers that the PO got for it. Those are $1080 at Tein's site. The ride on the SS's on the street was utterly atrocious, but at the same time the handling wasn't well composed at the track, either.

The short answer is that nothing I could find in the ~$1000-$2000 range was likely to deliver what I wanted. After a fair amount of research I ordered $2999 Ohlins DFV. Not that I'm made of money, there just wasn't any less expensive solution that was going to work for me, and the car was unbearable as it was.

The DFV's are a total revelation after the Tein SSs. I was really REALLY worried that there wouldn't be a noticeable difference, but now I find myself purposely going over road irregularities at speed that I used to either have to go out of my way to drive around or slow WAY down with the Teins. MUCH better resistance to pitch and roll, but at the same time INFINITELY better compliance over bumps/potholes/etc. I can *love* this car now!

If you don't have $3000+ burning a hole in your pocket, I wouldn't bother with coilovers at all.
In the $1000 price range, I bet you'd better off getting Koni sport struts/shocks and H&R or Eibach springs.

Rally's port direct did a thing on tein street flex and said they were nice for what they are.

I never road in one so I can't add anything more but they are in the 1500$ range
