I'll be getting some 1/4 times at the strip to validate the new found power. Seat of the pants says it gained significant power.

No.. I'm new to modding 4 bangers. Always played with bigger displacement motors. I would venture to guess that the 335 is maybe too big for a 2 liter motor, but that remains to be seen. I know guys with far better knowledge in this area who will help.

Well, the 335 is quite a bit longer.
Is there even enough room in the engine bay?

Sprintex confirmed to me that the next size up charger will bolt directly to the manifold (the pulley would end up in the same place, too), but would require a new inlet elbow to be fabricated.

Yeah, the length increase is at the inlet side according to the drawings, everything else appears to have the same measurements.
Thanks for the good info, I'll double confirm with them if I end up going down the SC path.

So by this logic the non intercooled kit is un-reliable, non repeatable, and unstable? Believe me I would be happy with 210whp + increase midrange tq from the $3500 FI kit, I hope the base (non-intercooled )Innovate kit can be made to work without corn or meth . If this is unrealistic it should be made public. It just seems like tuners are giving up on it with pump gas on the base kit ? Everything I see is E85, E85, E85. Well corn isn't available here and corn is meant to feed the hungry anyway ![]() If these are incorrect statements please provide explain the disconnect. ![]() Thanks

With no intercooler this kit is a giant heat sink. As you drive it, it gets hotter and hotter, which makes the performance results change. So the more you drive the car around, the less power the SC is making (leaving meth and E85 out of the picture). As to E85. With everything else being equal, E85 is safer than pump gas. If you leave all the timing advance and boost the same, on pump gas, if things get hot enough, you can have knock, which is bad. E85 pretty much won't detonate. You can get similar results by running 106-110 oct racing gas, but in general E85 is cheaper. So yes, most tuners are going to E85 because they can give their customers the ****-measuring horsepower and torque numbers they want. I don't like only hearing about e85 numbers either, since it's basically unavailable where I live, but I understand the performance benefits. As to the cost: we knew this intercooler kit would be ~$1000 when it was released by itself. This $1300 figure doesn't surprise me. But for the $4700 of the whole kit you get about the same performance the base kit offers, but with the added safety when running pump gas, and the added consistency of having an intercooled FI system. Its not going to make crazy horsepower just because it has an intercooler, but I'd expect the pump gas numbers to get better, and the safety factor will be there. |
