Recommendation for coilovers?

I'm looking for something for the weekend racer. I'd like something not too expensive, maybe mid tier, good for performance driving (perhaps drifting or touge), but will allow me to have a comfortable ride when daily driving.

These seem to win over models that come from d2 and bc racing around this price. Any recommendations welcome. FYI, planning to go for Work meister wheels. Probably s1 2 or 3 pc, 18 in. Thank you for any advice

stock fits your requirements very well, it's also free.

Yes, but I'm looking to lower the car. Quite low to where it wouldn't make sense with stock

without going into too much of anything...

consider a simple mild lowring spring upgrade on stock dampers (which are quite good)

no need for coilovers.

if you want to stick to coilovers (ie, have random height adjustability at any time... ie, you don't actually need that from any practical point of view) then understand that you're essentialy assking for a magical fit-all shoe and that you'll be taking a compromise in a number of areas within the budget you have in mind.

Could always go with the TRD lowering springs if you are warranty conscious.

There is no magical fit-all shoe. In no way did I imply that I was looking for that. There are coilover systems that fit the criteria I gave. I was simply asking if anyone had suggestions over the different kinds available. It's quite obvious that I will have to compromise.... You're not really helping here, but thanks anyways I guess

And no, stock dampers do not compare to what it is that I am trying to achieve. The fr-s is drift/track ready out of the box, but I'm looking for something better. Any of the coilover systems mentioned could provide better stability and handling. Upgrading the springs would not achieve the criteria I stated. I've already tried that experiment with a friends brz and the difference we find with his new coilover system is extremely obvious...

what is it about the stock car that you would like to change other than height (for cosmetic reasons)

and what other mods have you done to the car


because when you come in here saying thigns like "i want my car to handle better", while listing off parts i wouldn't want to put on my car for free, it just tells us that you feel like spending money and are not open to the possiblity of learning something about vehicle dynamics....

7thgear is actually asking legit questions and giving pretty sound advice based on your own questions. Not sure why you are so butt hurt his comments.

Different coilovers are better/worse at different things. Need some ideas about what specifically you would like to improve (more oversteer, more stability, more comfort, all of the above and I've got a lot of cash to burn, etc) to see what would fit you better and how "custom" you may need to go.

You can still improve things with just springs, but if you must go "low" then springs aren't the best idea.

What kind and what size tires do you plan on running? <---honestly this is the most important question and you skipped over it before.

Do you have any other suspension mods?

Do you plan to track or auto-x your car?

How important is comfort to you?

I've got KW V3's on mine, they ride great. If you don't want to spend THAT much for coilovers, then I can get you ST coilovers for a good deal
