I want a 2nd car bad. Something turbo and 4-door. I'm leaning WRX/STi but I might buy a 4-door MKV GTI also. Don't call my crazy but I even like the old SRT-4 Neons.

I'd love a E39 M5 but I'm afraid of fixing random shit that might go wrong on that car.

I also wanna start a 4x4/Jeep project!!!! AHHHH!

Cars is the worst hobby ever! Lol.

I had an E60, 545i in 6-speed manual. Great car, loved the power, but it sure was damned expensive to repair and maintain. SEVERAL oil and coolant leaks, flushed the system a few times myself, electrical components started failing; it was such a money pit. I love the E39, square body type...those would probably be the best out of all the BMW series. M5 or 540i would be the way to go, just keep some $$$ lying around for the parts and repairs.

and that's why every time I consider a Euro car, I turn around and run straight back to the Japanese makes. Cost of ownership is just too high when there are reliable cost-effective alternatives.

When I got married my wife had a Merc C-class that was an absolute money pit. Seemed like it cost $500 at every other maintenance interval. I consider it one of my greatest marital triumphs, that I got her to sell the C and now she drives a TC1. And loves it.

Parts for replacement non-OEM were 3x the cost compared to OEM Japanese. OEM BMW parts were 5x the price!!! Urgh, so expensive. Glad Winchester Auto is around, they saved by butt a few times

Was it an 01-07ish. That C-Class is garbage.

I've owner euro cars before. Some are better than others when it comes to the money put formula.

My WRX became a money pit and that's why I sold it for the brz. Decided I wanted to stay away from turbos for awhile. Definitely wasn't as expensive as a European car, but damn, labor rates for diagnostics still adds up.

I'd recommend you get an sti, those are mostly bulletproof and have nearly everything you could want from the get go. Get a tune and you should be good to go.

I get you, my 2.0t GTI wasn't a money put, but I did go through boost leak issues and a few other turbo related failures but damn I miss the power and TORQUE! I'm gonna try and wait another 6-7 months but I'd like to have a sorta small 4-dr car that's still very sporty. I'm open to other cars but I've loved the WRX since I first saw a bugeye back in high school.

I'm looking at paying cash for something used but I could also pay the FR-S off now and finance something new or nearly new also. Then FR-S can get more racecar mods and I won't feel guilty for breaking it.

it was a 98. I don't really understand it, but my father-in-law insists on keeping 3 Mercedes. A 1989 560SEL (ok that one is pretty rare and I understand keeping it), a 1996 S600 coupe, and a 2002 S600. Between the 3 there is something constantly breaking/requiring expensive repair. Just a black hole of financial woes. Must be a Chinese/Viet thing.

it's the ballin life style. S600? that's top of line rick ross boss type level ish.

20 years ago that is ... lol

my parents are the same way. I'm happy with my modern day econobox rather than a tank that guzzles gas and guzzles cash every time it needs service.
