Just so you know, the compressor also kicks on when using the windshield de-fogging setting.

Maybe I'm crazy but I think on mine it has to do with how I engage the clutch when coming to a stop, if I stomp on it and unload the drivetrain quickly the car jerks, about a minute later the idle begins to hunt. By rolling onto the clutch (car doesn't jerk, slows down like a smooth driver in an auto) I haven't had the idle hunting for the past few days, maybe a fluke, maybe someone else has noticed...
