As the argument goes, I still have to repeat power-weight ratio over and over again. Forget about it. This is "LOLing at the guys on the370z.com"

It was sad really... after almost 15 years of bench-racers bitching that the MX5 was underpowered, Mazda built a reasonably priced FI model and very few bought it. |

Case in point: My RX-7 has a lightly-modded (222/230 .597" cam, LS3 intake, L92 heads) LS2 V8 in it, makes just over 500hp. Basically, Z06 horsepower. But it did 129+ in the 1/4, which is a ZR1 trap speed (Z06 ~124/125mph). Why/how? Because it weighs ~2825 lb. where the Z06 is at ~3250 and ZR1 ~3400. Unless you're on the salt flats or a very high-speed test loop, weight is as important as power. Power/weight is everything! |

edit::or we can add the bmw 8i 0-60 in under 5, 160 mph top speed 80-90 something mpgs... im all down for mpgs and torque vectoring eletric motors to help handling... the new nsx is using that tech aswell.... i bet that nsx will pull some nasty gforce numbers...

The V8 Atom has wings right? Would downforce be that much of a concern? Certainly I think the car could use some body panels though.

people need to understand that a VERY small part of the car driving population are enthusiasts...a small percentage of that already very small percentage actually care about handling and going fast on a track.
Most enthusiasts (once again small part of the general population) mainly care about specs, bench racing, looking good etc etc. I don't know the stats but i wouldn't be surprised if a V6 accord did beat a FRS...at the stoplight...which is where most comparisons happen. I mean how often will you hear a guy say "yah i beat a XXX on the track?" Much less then you would hear someone say "yah i smoked some dude in a XXX on the freeway/at the stop light." |

I'm not arguring that it only takes lightness to be fast I'm saying that without lightness it takes a hell of a lot of power to be fast or lots and lots of tech. Quote:

isnt this thread an off topic( not in the sense that its in the off topic threads but about the off topic stuff people mentioned in the 370z forums???) thread? so its ok to go slightly off topic about people talking about off topic stuff... the only way not to be on topic is to be off topic about all the off topic stuff they talk about, right? for example im off topic atm
edit: im really just trying to mess with yall, but even with that said you're still going to think about what you just read and find a long way to be even more confusing explaining how im wrong...
