That makes no scents was she expecting you to buy a engagement ring instead. lol

If you got the money and got a plan then get then go for it. I mean car buying isn't an impulse kind of thing it shouldn't be a key reason to leave someone specially for this kind of car.

I think after his wife took the cloths off his back and then drove off with the car he had nothing left but the power of dance.

Disagree, this thing is a luxury, at $25k this is OVER half of the average American HOUSEHOLD income per year, the average family would be dumping 10% of their income into purchasing this vehicle over a 5 year period which may sound normal to a lot of people but when you're juggling the bills of keeping a roof over the head of a family, lights on, and food on the table and whatever other incurred debt to enhance your lifestyle it can be unobtainable.

In any case, if the Significant Other rejects your desires you need to reevaluate your priorities and no this does not mean run for the hills, although that may be the outcome.

If you couldn't afford something then don't buy it but if your holding down a good job, things look good plus it's your money and not both your money buy what you want (with in reason).

Uh that's why I quoted figures for American costs and income... This car is a luxury for probably 75% of the American population, as in to afford this would require a lot of planning and dedication and could stretch a families budget well beyond sustainability. Hell check the for sale section in this forum and many are selling their FRS with less than 10k miles because they can't afford to keep it.

You must be extremely fortunate to be so flippant about this purchase.

I saved for half a year and did my reserch about the car before I put a down payment on mine. I plan before I invest in a car it's not a spur of the moment thing I'm not rich. the reaction from the video is way over done for the car they bought.I'm not going to get in any heated battle about this I stated my feelings and I'm not changing. To me marriage is a partnership not a dictatorship and when you cant get something that you worked hard for and can affored to buy and the relationship failes because of that one thing then it wasn't meant to be.

Mine didn't care much, coming from a WRX she liked the lower insurance and better gas, but she said she liked the WRX more. I think she just like it more for the memories around it. A bit of a emotional connection to the WRX where there isnt one with the BRZ

Thanks for applying your personal experience to a generalization about 300+ million people and not considering other points of view let alone statistical data that is a much better representation of reality.

Very true, I think the real failing of this ad is that it displays dysfunctional relationships as the norm. I think that if I showed up to pick up my gf/bf (4+ years at this point for my personal reference) in a brand new shiny sports car he/she knew nothing about they would flip out quite a bit regardless of price.

I guess I am really lucky then.
Wife & I went to the dealership to look at a Legacy.
Drove the legacy & the BRZ, and couldnt decide between practical or fun (I live in Colorado).

The WIFE was the one that convinced me to get the BRZ.
She reminded me: "Hey when it snows, there's always the Suburban ;-)"

She was. And I told her it would be in the glove compartment when the car arrived. Good thing delivery was delayed a lot longer than expected, I saved myself a few grand.

I did tell her I needed a new car (the car I was driving had a bent frame and was on it's last leg). I guess she expected an impreza hatch or something...meh oh well

Wow, depressing ad and more depressing posts. Glad my wife let me pick the car I wanted and glad "we" can afford it.

Today marked 23 years in our relationship and it just gets better and better!!!

My response to those bat-shit crazy wives would be: Please enlighten me on what your engagement ring can do for you except depreciate.

I will compromise to make my girl happy as long as I'm not burying myself a grave in either debt or in the literal sense but when she makes it her job to make sure I sell off absolutely everything I have to make me unhappy and my life a living hell, trust me, I am all for gender equality and I will make sure she shares my hell for better or worse.

I remember seeing one of those "My mother-in-law-to-be is being a bitch to me and I don't know why" type TV shows and the fiancee's mother hated the guy for no reason. The host asked her why she hated him so much, couldn't answer. Brought in a towing company to sell the 3000gt to a scrapper and said to the guy "If you love my daughter you will do this for her." Off set, she admits that making this guy hate her and torturing him makes her happy and relieved. The dude and his fiancee were balling their eyes out wondering why she's is doing this. Finally she admits her only friend is her daughter and she doesn't want to give her up to the guy. Only friend? Hmmm, I wonder why.

Woman logic.
