Mine very much approved. She loves this car. Now if I came home one day with a turbo that may be a different story.

I would say their reaction would be just it was a Porsche or a Ferrari in the garage but the 86 I mean that's a little bit of an over reaction. I mean I know this is over in the UK so I can kind of under stand this kind of reaction know what most people living there have to pay but in the states spouses reacting this way is like WTF.

There is a reason why 99.9% of all male drivers do not own or drive sports cars. I can elaborate on why women, for the most part, can not understand why men fish or why men own sports cars but I think you all know what I want to say so I won't waste more breath.

I will tell you a story, however. I have had former girlfriends go absolutely crazy demanding that I sell the car I already had before I met them and the ultimatum usually involves them or the car. Let's just say that I had my car for a long long time.

And conversation is always the same. Why do you need another car? Why did not you think of the family and bought something for all of us? And then you go out a buy a big truck with lot's of space capable of hauling, lot's of interior space for 5 people and then she still tell you that car is wrong.

I read an article not even a couple of days ago where it said that according to some study majority of vehicle choice/selection decisions are made by women and not men. So much for being all macho macho... when a creature that you are supposed to love completely denies you any joy in life.

So, gents. I guess the moral of the story is forget that FR-S, 370Z, IS-F or new Corvette and go out and get a VW diesel wagon or a Volvo! :D

Woohoo, mine loved it and wanted to go for a spirited drive as soon as I got home with it!

I'm very lucky though

Well....that would make for an interesting advertisement too won't it? The advertisement is then claiming the gt86 is as fun/attractive & as repulsive to women as a Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini

LOL. Mine was very happy with my car, especially when she had already agreed I could buy a Cayman.

Wife #1 could have been a star in this video...

Wife #2 approves of me spending my hard earned money on whatever car I chose...

See the lesson here?

Stop getting married?

My wife approved of my WRX, STI, and BRZ. She hated my BMW...

thill 09-09-2013 09:52 AM

My wife was not happy that I traded in a perfectly good 1 year old 2013 model year sports coupe for a different 2013 model year sports coupe..

That said, she recently told me she loves the BRZ and that she understood why I fell in love with the car.

Very good point. If marriage #2 ever ends, I will try to remember this advice. ;)

brzninja 09-09-2013 01:14 PM

True story:

I told my girlfriend of 3 years I preordered the BRZ.
We broke up 3 weeks later.

Morale of the story: found another girl and still drive a great car.

Is that even a morale?
