It's not like Corvettes, Porsches, M3s, which you can count on finding a good bunch that were bought by older folks that had them garaged and used occasionally. Or even drove as DD, but mildly from house-to-office and nothing else.

It's a different market for entry level japanese sports cars. Those situations are REALLY hard to find.
I think you're overestimating the amount of people that abuse these cars.

Also, I'm in the south, which helps. I'd expect differently if I were in California.

Mine is worth less than 17k with 27000 miles on it. I asked a dealer just being curious and they offered 16k for it.

I recently sold a used car and found out a little bit. When a car hits over 100k miles is when the price drops dramatically. That's most likely when you'll start seeing lower costs when people hit that high mileage.

Dealership will always be a lot less then what you can sell privately. They look at many factors like how many cars they have on the lot in that specific color or what time of year it is(spring/fall).

Oh yeah! that was for my car with a lot of modifications. Also the 100k mile mark is where financing gets tricky. Most banks don't like to loan on a car with 100k or more miles which really drives down the price.

Trying to find the "cheapest" used FR-S/BRZ might not be the best idea.
There's a handful of them around out here, and only one that I've seen is modded. Three are driven by older women. I don't think you'll find that many abused as such for a while. What happens is when they're seven or eight years old and readily available for 10-15 grand, that's when kids with a part time job go buy them, and then they get trashed.

Penfed will do a loan on a vehicle that has over 100k, but only for two years. And they won't touch over 125k. But like you said, I don't see anyone else doing them.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could find one for 17k next year. I've seen two dip into the high 19s so far. Residual is what, 15-16k? So figure that's what they'll be going for a couple years from now, depending on condition.

I agree with that 100%. While there are many cars I would consider buying used I wouldn't buy any used twin no matter it's price. Too many of them are being ridden hard and put away wet. Future owners would be risking head aches.

The ones that dip under 18k in the next two years are the ones you don't want. I good cared for one will remain above 20 for the next two years. Ones that will have 60k miles in 3 years are the ones your be able to locate

As soon as one gets to about 60,000 miles.
