Oh cool! Which one did you go after, 86 or BRZ?

86. A few reasons, but the main points are that it's going to be cheaper and have more options.

I'll buy a car from whichever company offers a package that suits me best.

A completely unreliable source (friend of friend who works at Toyota) said it was $39990 + orc for the base model. Absurd price in my opinion, but I figure whatever the official price is it can only be the same or better then that, so I can't be disappointed!

You know I remember back when they were saying "we're making a cheap, reliable car built for tuners in mind." Here we are, still waiting on price confirmation and the speculation is consistently averaging around $40K. To me... that's not cheap, i don't know how many others there are out there who are willing to spend that much when you have so many other competitive cars in that price range. <Insert list here> I'm starting to question these cars more and more

they don't usually announce price and spec closer to local release.

since we are still 4-5 months away, we should be patient (although it's not easy).

there is no point at this stage to react to rumours.

Perhaps that should be a banner attached to every page on this site?

Buying TuRDs from Toyota Australia

Just looking at the TRD accessories and like the look of the brakes and seats (minus the vulgar red bits).

Does anyone know if TRD parts can be optioned on new cars bought from Toyota Australia while deleting the stock bits and receiving an appropriate price adjustment?

Or is there just one list price, that I'd be negotiating from regardless of whether I bought an 86 or a BRZ?

Although i couldn't say for sure, TRD parts could be added to the new car before you receive it, factory fitted id dare say as apposed to locally fitted.

Having said that, i doubt it would be worth it, you would still pay the same amount for the new TRD stuff but you wouldn't have the stock gear anymore and it would be the same price i would think.

For what its worth I emailed my salesman about the possibility of changing my Pre-order to a TRD edition (if it becomes available to Aus) this is the response I got!

Quote:
Hi Kurt,

Toyota will have this TRD 86 as a customized edition in domestic market only as far as our concern. But we will advise you if any changes coming thru.

Regards
Gary
I figured I'd rather get one thats got all upgrades out of the box rather than add em on later.

but looks like we may just have to add from the catalogue.. which basically a lot of people will likely turn to other aftermarket suppliers for upgrades.

Hope that helps?
