^ given looks are subjective, what else exactly does the fr-s have going for it? you would all like to believe that it's supposedly superior handling will get it around the track faster than the gc but that hasn't been proven. only thing proven thus far is that the gc has better power to weight ratio.
stepping into the fr-s interior is like going back to the 90's, hopefully the brz will do better. for comparison FR-S http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1322712818 GC- http://www.autoguide.com/gallery/gal..._itemId=481346 |

Until both cars are released and actual performance is tested the only thing that can be compared are the spec numbers and looks. Looks being subjective you are down to just the specs for now.
Real life response, feel and performance are not available for either yet so I would not be too dead set on one or the other. Its nice to have choices. |

Compact size? The genesis is noticeably larger and ~600lbs heavier. More nimble, more responsive, more fun. I wish as many do that the 86 was even lighter, but it is still the lightest new affordable FR coupe. (I think? Feel free to prove me wrong) I'm not expecting the superior handling to get me around the track faster, I could care less. I'm expecting the superior handling and balance to bring a bigger smile to my face while pushing the car to the limit. If I had the money I would probably buy a Lotus. |

TRD will have oversized brakes plus I'm sure you could get Brembos on an 86 if you were a Brembo fanboy. No official MPG for the 86 has been released but I'm pretty sure it will be on par Highway and even better City. No official pricing for the 86 has been released yet. R-spec gives you a Torsen LSD which is standard on the 86. |

I'm just trying to show that there are reasons to purchase a less powerful, smaller car for the same amount of money. The 86 and BRZ reviewers are praising things like the steering, responsiveness, agility and balance of this car. For some people those are more important than numbers, which is why some people are excited about this car. But hey, once both released they can finally be compared in more areas than just numbers. I think if they are priced similarly there will be no clear winner in which car is the better buy and it will end up being up to the buyers bias. |

To counterpoint, coming from the perspective that I want a small, light, simple sports car, the Genesis Coupe has a lot going against it: *It's too big *still too big *rather portly *size: XL *ugly [IMO that window belt-line is hideous] *cheap & crappy feeling interior *turbo engine [yes, that's a negative] All of those add up to shove me well out of the range of being interested in the car. Frankly, even if it was attractive and had a great interior, it's simply too big a car for me to bother considering it. For me, it's case closed.

^ to each his own, like i said before if the price is right
![]() the cheap and crappy interior is no longer cheap and crappy according to hyundai suggesting they have made improvements due to reviews and complaints. all your points are valid except why do you consider the FI to be negative? |

If you're over 6' I can see the GC fitting better. I personally love the GC refresh, and with 2 little kids it might be a better fit overall, but the FRS is going to be driven before anything else is bought. |

At no point did I mention price. I don't care if it's free, it's the wrong physical size. You don't buy underwear that's 3 sizes too big just because it's on sale, do you?

Also, I sat in the refreshed GC at NAIAS. I'm still not impressed. Hyundai's interiors are much better in every other car but the GC. Nevertheless, the car checks too many negative boxes, the most egregious being its size.
