@40flash does the window auto up-down feature that runs off the door switch cause any problems? i.e. is the door is harder to close because the window is up because the car thinks the door is already closed?

Might be useful to do this for couple days after tint is done... but I wouldn't keep it like that personally

I did some analyzing with my laser thermometer on a few different intake materials. The stock tube and the AIRAID tube have a temperature around 50° to 56° Celsius on the top of tube, and 70°C towards bottom of tube near engine block. The titanium tube stays at 40° to 45° C on top and 60° C towards bottom.
The intake manifold has a constant temperature of 56°C
All the airboxs were around 45°C
So the titanium material is better for a CAI.

I need to get you that bluetooth adapter so you can read intake temps at idke and speed to measure heat soak too.

what were your logged IAT... that sounds to me like the cold air being sucked in was cooling the surrounding area. And that the plastic was an insulator that was absorbing the heat. What were the MAF readings?

Not trying to be negative, just saying i wouldn't directly say its "better for cai" more so it is better to cool the bay temps down lol.
I was just using an infrared laser thermometer after running the car for a few hours each time.
I was measuring temps after engine shut off, but checked right away and a while after car had been sitting.
The stock and plastic materials were always at a higher temperature than the titanium.
I don't have anything to read or log the ecu but if someone has something and wants to log some readings for me it would be cool.
But to me if one material is retaining higher temps and for longer periods of time after car shut off than another material, it just seems like the cooler material would be better.

Hello everyone, my name is Gabe and I live in Tucson. I just purchased my FR-S 10 series 6-speed a week ago and love every second I drive it. I needed a Daily driver and here is the result. I sold my 04 Xterra for this so now just the 06 Lexus R400H and the 94 Supra left in the garage. I have been a part of the Supra community for a bit and the Scion community ( had 2 tC's, one Supercharged and another with a built engine and GT35r). I am happy to be back in the Scion community but new member to this forum. Hope to meet you all soon

This is why people make hard plastic intakes. They insulate and dont transfer heat as much which allows the colder air to stay colder. If something is colder than its environment then it is going to be absorbing the heat around it and placing it somewhere. In this case it would be transferring the heat in the bay to the pipe, and then to the air. How much is another story... but a quick datalog between intakes in consistant environments could tell you. We can always plug in EcuTEK to your car and log between two intakes to see the air temperature differences.

I know they use plastic material to insulate heat and maintain cool temperatures, but it also cuts cost for production and makes an affordable product to consumer. Using titanium calls for a very expensive intake system so if it does end up showing it make cooler intake air temps, companies are still going to go with a material that os easy to produce and sell.
My obd port is screwed up so I hope I can get an obd plug to work with it
