Rob has understandably ducked specifics on the motor as he has invested his time and money into developing a product to bring to market. It is custom is all he said the one time I saw a comment from him on the motor.
If you are interested in creating your own version, I recommend visiting the open-source thread.

I would love to see what headers would do to this car since it needs UEL to get that sweet rumble anyways.

Finally have an FR-S myself as of last night and the wife is fully on board with modding it. I just need a definitive answer as to whether or not a dealer can tell if a car has been tuned. The dealer I bought from includes a nationwide, lifetime, unlimited mileage, powertrain warranty as part of the purchase at no extra charge. I guess it's their way of discounting the car. I really don't want to throw that away. If I can't get a definitive, "no way they can tell" as an answer, then I'm going to need a unichip solution.

They certainly can tell, but it's a matter of how hard it is. The tools at the dealership wont see it. But if they do a forensic study of the software it can be found, even if you flash back to stock. But, what on earth would cause SOA or Toyota to go through that trouble and expense?

The ECU logs when it has been "reflashed", so a dealer could potentially figure out you reflashed the ecu with a custom tune.

I'm not even how probable it is that they would use that though - I haven't heard anybody denied warranty so far because of a tune. And, from what I understand, other dealers could reflash the ECU themselves as well so I'm not sure what all they could prove there.

Keep in mind, warranty is protected under "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act". Here's a quick article explaining

EDIT: all that being said, a unichip would be the way to go if you don't want the flash to be logged

Price is estimated right now around 1500 plus 120 for batteries. FYI I am not selling this kit I am just testing it out and stressing it to its limits
