Normally the sensors don't have to be replaced but you will need access to Techstream to correctly diagnose any airbag system related issues.

On a final note, the shop manual recommends replacing the complete seat assembly if that airbag went off.

...good luck
Thanks for the information. No I'm not doing it myself as I mentioned a few times. I'm just trying to price this out and see what it's going to cost me.

Sorry I misunderstood. I can't imagine what an estimate for all that is worth.

Mostly I'm worried about the airbag. Anything else is pretty simple and I can do myself. Bumper, fender, headlight.

So I guess I'll call tomorrow and find out what price I'm looking at there.

Do repair shops do that work too? Or only Toyota since the frs is still too new.

Airbag systems are dangerous and should be treated with respect but they well designed with failsafes and monitoring systems. There are body shops that are certified by Toyota to do this type of work and normally they're the one actually doing airbag replacements unless the dealership has one onsite.

Just in case you haven't seen this...

They use Honda because they are one of the most counterfeited bags out there.. But there are fakes for every OEM.. Research before you buy.. Me personally, with last experience working at body shops, would look for replicas on the light and fender.. If they make them.. But as for the airbag, I'd buy real OEM stuff on the safety equipment

The computers should be fine but will likely store the deployment code. Your car, do what you want.

I'm guessing it has nothing to do with the deductible, and everything to do with not having the accident on the carfax report. Because lets face it, any accident that causes airbag deployment is going to be a red flag on a carfax report.

I wouldn't let anyone except for a toyobaru dealer thouch the airbags.
They are explosives and not to be messed with.
Also i would suggest to buy the toyota/subaru parts, as mentioned before some fake airbags may cost you your life.

Here are the official partnumbers used in Europe
the side airbag in the left seat is SU003-03407
for the right seat it is SU003-03406.
the curtain on the left is SU003-03425
the curtain on the rigth is SU003-03424

And in Europe 1 airbag cost about 1500€ from the dealer ( we probably are getting ripped of here)

holy sh*t that counterfeit airbag video is INTENSE. didn't expect that extra bit of shrapnel/smoke/fire to get shot at your face. not funny, but the fact that somebody actually considered to make money off something like that blows my mind.

prob best (unfortunately) to pay to have it done at a dealer, imo. air-bag/installation is much cheaper than a trip to the hospital. bad way to look at it, i know. sorry to hear about the hit an run. some people truly need to get whats coming to them, you can only postpone your fate you can't run from it

Only use OEM parts for the airbag, not Ebay. Airbags are going to be very expensive, along with everything else you mentioned.

This whole thread is fishy unless you were the drunk driver...

Airbags are very expensive here in the US as well (for OEM and properly installed). Considering everything the OP has to replace, my guess is $3K minimum, maybe more depending on how much he does himself and labor rates.

With all the work I would suggest looking more into a claim. The loss in value on the vehicle and the cost to fix would be much greater then the insurance premium I would guess.

One of my old cars blew the airbags (my brother tapped a tree with it), we looked into getting bags at a junkyard and having our local mechanic install, it was still over $1500 for the pair + installation.

You made it sound like you are having someone else fix it, which I would strongly recommend, airbags are very dangerous, and if you do not know what you are doing you can seriously hurt yourself. Going this route order your parts through the dealer, it will cost an arm and a leg, but you don't want to compromise the safety of your car, or gamble by ordering through an online vendor.

I was hit in a parking lot, insurance claimed.. In fact State Farm still going after geico because they claimed 50/50.. Anyway.. Took the car to a shop that I know the person and nothing is on my car fax.. I was under the impression it's only when the auto shop reports it.. When I worked for body shops it was way before car fax was even around..

Hit it on the money.

Anyways I called its 750$ for the part. No sensors. Fender 250$ bumper 300$ front bumper 300$

People I never said I was buying something other than OEM. There's salvage dealers, and places that do have the parts for much cheaper. I seen them range from 150-400.

Yes I would have a shop take care of all the labor.
