Airbag deployment

Side curtain deployed.

Do I need to replace all the computers?
What all needs to be done? I know I need a new airbag but are sensors are needed.

You should probably let a toyota technician deal with it.

+1 on having a professional deal with this, explosive airbags are a stupid thing for you to mess with. They need to replace the airbag units themselves and any sensors that failed causing the deployment along with any disposable electronics and wiring near or connected to the airbag meant for one time use. Sorry.

I agree with you 100% I would rather see if I could buy the part from eBay or something if needed to save me money from the stealership. I know there's sensors and such but not sure if there's 4 different ones or how it really works. Was just seeing what people knew.

Car was hit in a parking lot, by a drunk driver. Need headligt, front bumper, fender and rear bumper.

Don't buy parts off EBay. Let the insurance company handle this. This is what insurance is for.

I'm not going to claim it, if the car was totaled that would be a different story.

Why wouldn't you claim it? Unless you have a super duper high deductible, it doesn't make any sense to not claim it. Let insurance deal with it. That's what you're paying them to do in situations like this, and your premiums won't increase because you weren't at fault.

Hit and run. I'm just not claiming it. I have my reasons to not claim it.

I understand everyone wants to help, but the topic doesn't pertain to insurance claim. I understand what insurance is for. I'm not claiming, I'm just asking a question about the sensors for the curtain airbag if there is a certain one etc etc

Dude airbag is a safety feature that needs to be replaced and fixed by a TRAINED TECHNICHIAN. if your that broke and wanna do it yourself, then do us all a favor and switch over to a civic since that's the kind of shit they do. Last thug you wanna have happen is you get in an accident and your airbags don't deploy properly either a. Seriously injuring yourself, b. death. So don't be cheap and let insurance handle it.

If you are going to attempt this on your own please carefully research this. I would use the BRZ Full Shop Manual as a starting point.

Normally the sensors don't have to be replaced but you will need access to Techstream to correctly diagnose any airbag system related issues.

On a final note, the shop manual recommends replacing the complete seat assembly if that airbag went off.

...good luck

Guess you didn't read. I never said I was doing the work. I could buy a part and have a trained tech Do the work for me. But clearly that isn't the way to go either. I 100% agree it's nothing to mess with...and I already said this ^^^ I wouldn't do something so series myself. I haven't called Toyota to even ask or get a quote yet. Just wanted to see what others thought.
