How involved of an install is this? I've never had to replace an axle before.

May have to just order one and put it in myself as I don't think the dealer will be able to get through the warranty process prior to me leaving for Lincoln.
How many runs do you think your BRZ has done?

I believe the shop manual calls for 1.3 hours so it shouldn't be too bad.

I would say 225-250 runs. I have 16,210 miles on the car.

Ahhh crap. I just started hearing a clicking when slipping the clutch at low speed or sometime when turning at low speed. I thought it sounded like it was coming from the driving side front, but I'm worried it may be the axle now.

I've put about 16 autocrosses on the car with Dunlop ZI Star Specs. Suspension is unmodified.

I'm supposed to have an track event this Friday... Not sure whether I should cancel or not

I had about 350 runs and 15k miles and mine was clanking around. They replaced it last week and all is well. Had about 7 runs in this sunday and shut it down due to a massive screw in my rs3s.

Crap. If @TRev is starting to see issues, that's no good for mine. Probably 200 runs on mine so far...

Well I just got done taking the tech at the dealership for a ride .

He claims that's a normal noise for an axle that's being "broken in" nevermind that the car has 12,000 miles on it and it just started making that noise the past week

Mines getting louder and happening in every gear now. After the dealer telling me everything is fine, I'm just waiting for it to split and then I'll have a real problem. Then they'll have themselves a lawsuit. Dumb fucks.

I'm with you. I have a PDX Friday that I was going to cancel, but since they won't replace it.... I made it very clear to the service manager that if it brakes on me after I brought it in that I fully expect to be reimbursed for all associated costs. She said that in the event there is a defect they would cover all expenses, for what little that is worth... however they noted on the release form that I had "race tires" on the vehicle so I can already see a warranty denial in my future.

I assume you're using DOT approved tires.

Absolutely, Dunlop Direzza ZI Star Specs. I walked right back in and asked why that was on the form when those are DOT approved tires. She said that they had to note I was using non-stock tires which is absolute bullshit

Anyone know the size of the axle nut? Would be good info for this thread. I am going to pickup a socket to keep with the tools I travel with.

Torque spec is 140ft lbs.
