Maybe his kit comes with it. I say I spoke with him, but really it was my brother. The rear end in his corolla has Weir axles, ring and pinion and pinion spacer. So he just got in contact with him for me since he already has a repor with him.

Theoretically, yes. You could also get down to a 3.7 if you wanted from a manual IS. I keep saying theoretically because the fact of the matter is I haven't completed this yet, but the IS300 carrier is supposed to just bolt right on.

The bare minimum that I was told I would need, in addition to the ring and pinion, was shims, pinion nut, pinion seal, and solid spacer. However depending on how many miles are on your carrier, you may also need bearings.

A solid spacer won't hurt but definitely isn't mandatory. I would highly recommend adding side seals to your list as they'll likely need to be popped out to check diff clearances. They're cheap. |

Yeah, I'm not looking to go bare minimum anyway. I'm looking to go long lasting, reliable, and done correctly. Saving money compared to the Mfactory 4.67 would just be a nice byproduct.

For the record, according to: http://www.teammfactory.com/gearcalc...ission+1+%26+2
215/45/17 @ 4.88 final drive would mean... 1st - 29 2nd - 48 3rd - 69 4th - 87 5th - 106 6th - 138 I wonder what 6th gear would top out at with factory power and this ratio.

By carrier I mean the "pumpkin" or housing that contains the differential. The two terms are often conflated so I figured I'd try to be as specific as possible. What I bought was a factory IS300 rear differential carrier, it comes with the differential inside obviously.

Regarding the washers, would that be something a differential shop would just have on-hand? Or is there an actual set from Toyota? Same thing goes for the shims, are those specific to this application or is that something they could just have laying around already? |

I can't speak to what a dealer might have on hand for diff washers. A good performance shop will either fab their own or already have them on-hand. That's difficult to answer since every dealer and shop will be different. |
