i have a question. Will this already come with a base tune(one tune fits all) or do we have to start from scratch?

Not a fan of Vishnu, but definitely a fan of this! You guys switched over from the 335i right around the time I switched over from my 135i, lol.

I remember my friend telling me about this awesome new open source thing that the N54 had, and I remember feeling bummed out that I missed out on something that cool. WELL IT LOOKS LIKE I DIDNT MISS OUT! I'm beyond stoked.

....group buy, group buy, group buy! :p

People say that a lot, completely ignoring the fact that search on these type of boards is useless and matches raw strings with no context sensitivity at all.

You search for 'foo' and it returns every post or topic (depending) that has the raw string 'foo' in it, with no intelligent ordering or anything. Search 'fa20club turbo' should return useful ordered results, instead you get every post someone with that string in their signature ever made.

So yeah we'd all search, if it was more effective than just asking lol.

This is very true. Thats why I just use the google search button and it finds the threads in this forum pretty well!

It would be nice to have reputable tuners sign on and offer tunes...like drift office or moto mike.

I live in bfe so dyno tuning is a 3hr plus trip. And that's if SLC/Boise has a shop tuning these.

What would be the benefit for a "reputable tuner" doing this? That's the attractiveness of closed solutions like ECUtek's: it favors and rewards tuners who really want to invest time and resources into becoming better and better and need revenue to pay back their investment! How do you propose that with this solution and why would a reputable tuner jeopardize their revenue stream?

I want this to work and work well like everyone else, but I don't have pipe dreams of this being a great solution for those not willing to invest their own time into learning and tinkering with their own personal tunes…

Well, a generic map will never be as good as one custom tuned to your car.

They'll still be paid for the hours worked on the individual cars like the business model for standalone ecus instead of charging per customer on the exact same tune.

Coming from the subaru scene.....open source tuners still tuned and made money. Ecutek and a real solution ( cobb) were both present.

The only way for this to work without reputable tuners would be from sharing info and tunes.

I understand most don't have to worry about boost but I imagine people without a fair amount of prior experience will not do well.
