Did your overpipe fit ok with the stock header and the Borla? Feedback on this would be great as you are the second person with that header and clearance problems and we may need to make some special notes about this. Did you try adjusting the V-band connection much to help the clearance?
I never explicitly looked at the clearance but I never heard the banging noise like I do now with the P&L. We did try many things: adjust the pipe at the v-band, loosen everything and hold and sinch, adjust at the gearbox exhaust hanger. Etc. I may look at it again next week if the noise doesn't go away.

I am open to trying any revised overpipes

The cable for the fans runs a little too close to the header here for my taste. I relocated mine inside the fan shroud to keep it from getting that close to the header.

It took 30 seconds and a zip tie.

Amazing photos again.
Next time I have the car in the air I'll reroute this wire. Thanks for the suggestion sir

Also if they are the Group N STI mounts they will not work without some mods.

This car does not make enough torque to mess up the motor mounts IMO. STI has new engine mounts out that fit this chassis, though significantly more expensive than Group-N mounts.

I've had Perrin engine mounts sitting at home for months now waiting for the JDL UEL headers I ordered months ago. Nice to see you enjoy the engine mounts. I'm guessing I will as well. I was going to install myself on a friends lift but it seems I'll need to make sure to have something to jack the engine up as well when on the lift. I'm guessing jacking it up with just the two engine mounts loose is all I would need to get them out? Or would I need to loosen anything else like trans mount?

Do the new Perrin mounts weigh the same or more than the stock mounts? That's the rule for STX class, you can run any mount you want as long as it doesn't decrease weight.

There are BRZ-specific STI mounts now which are basically just much stiffer rubber. I'm not sure I see the same issues happening with those as the Impreza ones due to how much material there is, and there is quite a bit less force involved with launching a BRZ vs. a STI.

@PERRIN_Jeff I have the same problem with my overpipe after adding the P&L header, no clearance issues with the stock header, so there's nothing for you guys to be worrying about. The groupbuy thread has pictures of P&L's own overpipe with identical contact points. I swapped back to the stock overpipe for now.

Wow, great review. Thank you! I just received my Perrin mounts yesterday and I chose them over cusco for the same reason as you. I also like the fact that they make the removal of the motor much easier for future work and maintenance.

How harsh are they for daily driving? I don't mind some increased NVH but I'm still curious.

The Pipes they make ze noise Herr doktor

My brother and I were going about town recording some sane driving sound clips and I got something to bang together a few times. I am pretty sure its the overpipe hitting the subframe. My car never made this noise before I installed this header. However all I have to go by is this noise, can't say for sure this is the root cause.

Thanks for the awesome write up/review and pictures (BTW what camera?)

Looks like you made a good choice by going with perrin. Any clue why the Borla cracked? Bad weld or is it due to the flex section creating uneven expansion ect possibly?

Thank you. Here is my current gear. I'm a prime guy

Olympus OM-D EM5
Olympus 12mm f/2.0
Panasonic 20 f/1.7
Panasonic 25mm f/1.4
Olympus 60mm f/2.8 macro
Olympus 75mm f/1.8
FL-600R Wireless Flash

I do post processing in Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC.

I think the combination of poor welding plus the heat from FI plus a track day ultimately led to the crack. I think there is no way to really know for sure.

Last group of videos for today. Enjoy

Going about in town

Overall I find the system to be very easy to drive with going about in town. The exhaust definitely lets you know its there when you go through the powerband, but when you get to a easy cruise speed, it quickly gets out of the way. P&L Motorsports and Perrin definitely make good products.

The following videos were just my brother and I going around Dallas. We found some good roads to stretch out Lola's legs while just having random chat. All of it was recorded on a windshield mounted OM-D. I had to rotate all the videos because the camera was upside down :|

After trying this setup, i'm not sure if I want a go pro haha.
