Mines came back afrer 3,000 miles. Pretty long time id say.. I kept listening for it too. But now its not as loud as the last pump and sometimes after my long commute and i let it idle in my driveway and it doesnt chirp at all. Its weird.. its never really a consistent chirp anymore. Sounds more like morse code... Im sure its the gas here.. what ever i hope to get my exhaust soon and hopefully that sound and my music will drone it out lol.

Google 'diesel mixed with 2 stroke oil'. I've used it that way myself for several years and it was as good as others report. Others have tried it to shut the chirps up with no negative results reported so far. Let's face it, 2T is simply a lubricant designed to be used and then combusted in fuel. I can understand your concerns but I would trust it more than any other fuel additive with their various claims and dubious contents. |

The chirping of my car is really bad so I would like to try this 2 stoke oil method. So basically I need to get 2T and put a cap full in the gas tank?

Get a good quality low or pref. zero ash 2T oil. You might need more than 1:1000 but best to start light on and try a bit more if it doesn't shut up straight away. I wouldn't go over 1:500 if 1:1000 isn't enough.
It's easy when it's metric. The 50L tank needs just 50ml added before the fuel goes in. That way it's well mixed and not left in the filler tube. 12.5gal = 1600oz 1:1000 = 1.6oz So add 1.6oz when you fill up next and then 0.13oz per gallon after that. Best check my figures because I was converted to metric from imperial over 40 years ago. Let us know how it goes. |

64. I had finished my apprenticeship and was within 6 months of qualifying to be a flight engineer when I left college on a whim. I was a hippy then and whims were important! When I went back a few years later, to do that last year again, it had changed to metric. What should have been easy was much harder and I gave it away again.

The chirp in my car seems come and go now. Yesterday on my way home the first 5minutes it was there but it became quiet since then till I got home. This morning it is back but not loud as before. Still in touch with Scion customers service.

Just wondering, but our tanks are actually 13.21 Gal (50 L) empty--I'm guessing you are going with the assumption that most of us won't run the tank completely dry before fill-ups? |

I used 1gal = 4L from memory but it's 13.21gal as you say. First time you are treating the complete tank, after that just what you add when you fill up. Call it 1.7oz for the first time. Still 0.13oz per gallon after that. That's a lot less than the 4oz of Lucas oil that NICOLA is adding every fill up. Even double that to 1:500 is only 2.6oz for a 10gal fill up but best to use the minimum needed to hopefully shut it up. |

I have around 5k miles and my car and had the chirp bad. I started filling up with 93 octane with no ethanol added and I haven't had the chirps in about 500 miles.
