Good lord it's like a funeral in here. When I first got my car I LOVED it. Every time I got in it I would giggle and sling it around....just the best. So next month will be a full year for me driving this car and you know what has changed? Not a damn thing.

While I've had this car I've had the opportunity to drive much more powerful and easier to drive cars and while I've enjoyed them, at no point have I thought I'd rather have them than mine. I guess Going through the back half of college with a 2dr base civic with a manual gave me a different perspective on what is required to be a convenient DD. Other than moving furniture, the FRS has never let me down for day to day practicality. And as far as having to rev the nuts off of it to get power....WHO DOESN'T LIKE REVING THE NUTS OFF OF IT?!

In all seriousness if it's not the car for people I'm glad you guys are thinking about switching. Why drive a car you don't love? My real concern is the long term viability of a platform where, not even a year in, a good half of the community so pumped about the car that they sit around on forums talking about how the love it are jumping ship. I can only imagine what your average, non-enthusiast thinks about it. I fear that the next year will see the used market flooded and all the people on the fence will go with a cheaper used example and new car sales will tank. S2000 pt2. Also I hate to admit that the people trolling this car saying things like "once the hype wears off you'll wish you had more power" and "could've had a wrx/v6 mustang/etc etc" may have actually been right. I need a drink.

TL;DR:

That's exactly what's gonna happen, it's a given. Just the nature of a "second car" market. And if DI seals start popping left and right it's gonna be RX8 pt2.

If one wants to sell/trade-in they should do it now. I do have random thoughts like "I should sell it now, before MY14s arrive and it's still warm", but then I drive it and think "wtf am I thinking?". Theoretically, I'm okay selling next year at current used prices, when I expect to be bored with the car. In practice used values are gonna tank and I'm probably gonna keep it much longer

Wow.. i didn't mean to start a FRS/BRZ bash fest..

I still love the car! I love the look, I love the economy, I love the handling. I just need more power.. That's my only issue with it.. my only complaint. I'm very very happy with everything else about it. Just do not love the motor.

Now.. having said that.. I'm very intersted in the next gen WRX.. if the photo's of that concept are anything close to reality.. it would be amazing.

But seriously.. I just need another 100 ft lb's and no drop off in the 3-4k range and I'll be happy as a clam. That vortech s/c might be in my future for next summer.

Unfortunately we can almost gurantee it will be a typical WRX, Impreza with a body kit and though that concept looks badass from a economical standpoint they are not going to be close to that in production.

Don't get me wrong this car is for sure one of the best driver's cars on the market still. I 100% agree the used market for these is going to tank hard when the 15's hit or when the next cool car launches. Keep in mind that these types of cars are never on a guranteed life cycle even if they have great sales, the profit gained, if any, from this type of car is minimal compared to the mass market models. The only thing that keeps these cars alive is a drive to build them from the top management. At anytime Toyota or others may decide why put an effort for pennies.

I get where you are coming from driving the cheaper beater in college, I was there but I have been out long enough to own some decent vehicles before this car and I personally find the interior lacking. My other MAJOR concern is I am looking to start a family in the next few years and I want to have the convenience and room my current car allows me, and by selling early like this I lost 1500 bucks off sticker, sold for 23000 to a dealer.

For everyone that is still enjoying it, keep going! The car is no doubt amazing to drive, just lacks in certain things that are more important then fun to drive for some of us in different stages of life. I am not concerned about people selling at all, I expect in 5 years we can keep meeting up and all of us will have different but still cool cars.

For a month or two. Been there...

I'm not buying another first MY car from anybody for a while. That includes the next-gen WRX.

On a less depressing topic, The 2nd Michigan Mega Meet is coming up! I'll be there as a spectator. It's a bit of a drive, being out at MIS but it's shaping up to be a very large show. Judging by last years turnout, all makes and models will be there from Imports, classics, etc. Hopefully many of you can make it out!

Quick details!
Where: Michigan International Speedway
When: Sept 7th, 10am - 5pm
Facebook Event

Incorrect, Subaru has already confirmed publicly that the next WRX will be a new chassis, no longer on the Impreza line.

Incorrect, Subaru never said that, that was wishful thinking on part of journalists. Next-gen WRX is just current-gen Impreza with some tweaks.

Late to the topic but I'm still pretty happy with mine, but I'm also still in the honeymoon phase. I was looking for a hassle free way to unload my STI (car was cursed...seriously) and I have my WRX still so I could afford to get something a little less practical as a second/track car. Granted, I still think about getting an older M car to track instead and get rid of my payment. I was hours away from picking up an new WRX Limited hatch until I saw this coming in, and I feel like I made the right choice...and a cheaper choice.

Which, obviously I love WRX's and they are probably the best cars for the money that can do many tasks well, but I was also definitely up for something new. I miss the power but I am finding that I am starting to use techniques to wring the most speed I can out of the BRZ. Yes, minivans can out pace me off the line, but I still have my bike hauling WRX when I need to go faster.

I have a lot of regrets that I never got half the stuff I wanted to do with the STI done and just had fun with it, so I'm trying to do that with this car and then get it paid off and move on to the next thing. There's lots of fun cars out there so I'm always changing my mind what I want but for the mean time I'm going to try and hold onto this one for awhile.

And if the motor craps out on me and it's out of warranty, well ...crap. Wrecked LS1 Camaros are pretty cheap...

As far as the new gen WRX goes...too much speculation and too much waiting for me to say. It'll be almost 2015 before one ever makes it to the US- couldn't wait.

Sorry, but I must disagree. The trunk is for the mother-in-law.

I saw a white or silver FRS/BRZ driving in Midland yesterday, coming from the mall area. Initially I thought it was the silver BRZ I see parked at the apartment complex by the soccer fields all the time, but when I drove past, I saw that one sitting there. Since I had assumed it was that car, I can't really remember if it was a BRZ or FRS, but I do remember seeing a strange license plate that had a bit of red on it. I was driving my wife's xD at the time, heading to the gym. Anyway, just wondering if maybe it's someone new in the area or someone in town for school?

The BRZ by the apartments near the soccerfield is Kauf, I think his name is on here. I know that Bay City had ordered me a silver BRZ at some point so maybe it finally arrived and someone bought it.

Yeah I ate the taxes as well, but all in all not a bad return on investment since most places like to hammer you for like 4 or 5k off the sticker after you drive it off the lot.
