MiniDSP's cost a hundred bux and are more than adequate..
I also wouldn't assume, like some others above, that Subaru put the drivers in an ideal location. Firing a cone speaker at the windscreen like that can create a comb filter, as it can for dome drivers, but of course it varies depending on exactly which frequencies, which driver, which angle etc. There is no one-size-fits-all. If you do intend to use the OE locations, or build pods there, it is worth doing a fair bit of investigation if you're after ultimate SQ.. it's very easy to make a poor driver choice in these locations. On-axis is the safest bet.. |

Minidsp is an interesting option I have used for home theater and is pretty powerful, but most likely will take more work to integrate. But it is pretty inexpensive. |

The Mini DSP seems like an interesting option, it will definitely will require a bit of learning on my part, but the pricing, and the capabilities seems to be on the mark. I'll admit that compared to the Mini DSP, the MS-8 route has some appeal in that I don't have the same learning curve to set it up.
Back to the original topic, would angling the mid speakers towards you make much of a difference if you put the tweeters in the A-pillars, or are they not going to be as directional?

After talking with SIS, I'm thinking of aiming my tweeters more or less up, toward the rearview mirror. This seems to be a really good spot in this car. I'll play around with it, of course, but that will be my starting spot.
